Dropbox Backup
1074 TopicsRestore immediate backups in Dropbox.
For Dropbox Backup, return to providing immediate backup of my files. The latest update of the Backup app last year only offers 15-minute backup as the fastest method, but this means 14 minutes of new or changed files will not be backed up. It should be immediate, as it was before.22Views0likes2CommentsRe-installation of Dropbox on Mac OS Sequoia results in issues with File Provider symlinks
I recently attempted to perform some cloudstorage migration, but in the end stuck with dropbox. Somehow the installation of dropbox was affected. Previously, dropbox symlinked /Users/X/Library/Dropbox/Mac/Desktop/ with the /Users/X/Desktop/ directory allowing the desktop to be synced with dropbox which was great Now, the desktop remains as a local only /Users/X/Desktop and an additional folder named 'Dropbox' is created like so: /Users/X/Library/Dropbox/Mac/Desktop/Dropbox I have tried multiple reinstalls, toggling dropbox for file provider on and off by signing in and out and enabling or disabling dropbox backups of the Mac/Desktop folder to no avail. I have also performed advanced-reinstalls but the desktop remains unsymlinked https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall Any help would be welcome24Views0likes4CommentsDropbox Backup Stalled on .dbxignore
In this forum I see previous discussions about this problem over the last 2 years, but do not see a documented solution. My Dropbox backup process reports "300.22 GB of 300.28 GB backed up, 99% complete", with the status line at the bottom of the window showing "Updating .dbxignore". This is a MacBook Pro running MacOS 15.3.2. No further progress occurs. How do I break this deadlock?Solved23Views0likes2CommentsHow to back up Dropbox into an external server?
I am looking for an App that will let me backup Dropbox for Business into external server. I found that I can use Synology Drive Client to do back up into my NAS server. But the process is very slow. We do have Back Up through DropBox. But I am looking for additional option to external media. In my case a NAS server. Any suggestions?401Views0likes6CommentsCan Dropbox back up Logic Pro Project Files?
I use Logic Pro to record my music projects on a Mac. I have an external drive connected to my Mac that I use as a primary backup for my music projects. I also have this external drive automatically backing up to Dropbox. I assumed it was backing up everything. I just noticed it is backing up everything in my folders other than the Logic Pro Project file. When I look at the backup on Dropbox, instead of seeing the ~600mb Logic Project file, I see three folders it created instead, with a some of the audio files from my project but not the entire file. In other words, what is backed up is totally different than what is on my external drive (which matches the original version on my hard drive). Has anyone seen this? The main reason I starting using Dropbox for backup's is because Apple iCloud could not handle the Logic Pro Project files. I just assumed this was an Apple thing, but maybe its something else? Thanks for your help.637Views1like6CommentsAdding photos from my iPhone. Backup vs uploading
I am trying to add all my photos from my iPhone 16 to Dropbox in order to delete them off of my phone. if I only use the backup feature can I do the above? Or do I have to upload each photo where I have to click each photo and it only allows 400 at a time? can you explain the difference like I’m 2 please. Because in my mind the way i understand is you’re suppose to use the backup feature for new photos so it saves going forward but if I put for all photos (since I’m new here) it should save them all. And the upload is like a second option42Views0likes2CommentsMy account shows there are 33GB of backups, but my Backups page is empty.
Hello, My account shows that it's out of storage, I have only 180MB in regular files and a 33GB backup, but I don't see it anywhere else than in the subscription page. Nothing on the backups page. I can't delete this file to free up the space. Where can I find access to it?Solved336Views0likes6CommentsIf I reinstall Dropbox will the files that are already indexed on my hard drive still be linked?
I want to stop a huge syncing process that was started by mistake. I have read that the only effective way to do this is to uninstall and reinstall the desktop app. There are a large number of files already indexed on my external hard drive. I am concerned that if I uninstall and reinstall then I may have to index all of these files again, which will take days if not weeks. I would like to know what happens with the files when I reinstall - will the app function as it did before, as if it was never uninstalled?22Views0likes1CommentBe able to change Dropbox backup folders names on individual accounts
Add possibility of rename Backup folders. If you have only one computer, it go fine, but if you have more than one, it ends being very confussing. Due iCloud Drive issues, I've changed all of my Macs "synchronized" Desktop and Documents to Dropbox. However, take a look to the picture: It is very difficult to guess what is what. With the possibility to rename them, I could have named "My iMac", "My MBP 13", "My MBP 15". Very easy to see what is what. (As a workaround, we can change to detail view, but could be more easy for all of us be able to change the names).21KViews82likes88Comments
