Dropbox Basic
1333 TopicsHow to Leave a Shared Folder
I'm relatively new to DropBox, and I'm using DropBox Basic, with no interest in upgrading to Pro at this time. A client has shared a folder with me that includes many subfolders, and I have just reached my space limit. I'd like to leave some of those subfolders to open up some space. Is this possible, and how do I do it? Is the only solution to leave that top-level folder? If so, will that interfere with the client's ability to share with me more subfolders of that top-level share in future? I need to be able to let the client share new subfolders, while I drop older subfolders to maintain a reasonable amount of space. Why pull support and remove functionality? Why not just drop support -- just stop updating the app but still allow basic functionality? There are still a lot of legacy machines that are still in use and CANNOT upgrade to 10.6, as they are PowerPC based. Yes, old systems still work. Why stop the app from working totally instead of just deprecating support for those systems?142KViews14likes281CommentsHow to create Dropbox Image URL for hosting purposes.
Hi, basically I am trying to mass upload product images to various marketplace platforms. So, I'd like to know the right way on how to generate the link to those particular images so that the marketplace server can grab images directly from dropbox. I have tried the "share" and "copy url" way but it doesn't work. Please help!Solved87KViews1like6CommentsHow do I delete files from Dropbox without deleting them from my computer and other devices?
I do not use Dropbox for backup storage; I use a different service for that. But friends and fellow students sometimes want to share files in Dropbox, so I set up a free account. Somehow, I don't know how, Dropbox uploaded some of my photos to the cloud and filled up my basic Dropbox space. I would like to take my photos out of Dropbox WITHOUT DELETING THEM FROM MY COMPUTER or other devices. This would give me the Dropbox space that I need for sharing. But when I try to do that, Dropbox says that it will delete my photos from all my devices! How can I empty my Dropbox without deleting my photos from my devices?Solved82KViews5likes46CommentsCan I delete files on Mac that are uploaded to Dropbox and not lose them?
I am trying to find a solution/alternative for my storage on my Macbook Pro. Basically, I want to upload certain folders from my Mac that contain large files (i.e. video) to Dropbox and then be able to delete them on my Mac so space is saved. iCloud allows me to upload, but if I delete them on my Mac, they will disappear on iCloud. It sounds as if I can do this with Dropbox and not lose the files. However, is this true? Bonus: Is there a way to automatically sync some folders to Dropbox but no others. What I am trying to ultimately do is: 1) Move all files on my Mac to Dropbox automatically 2) Be able to manually delete files from my 'Video' folder on the Mac yet still have them stay put in Dropbox 3) Be able to download those deleted files when I need them My Mac is out of space and trying desperatelyto find a solution!Solved60KViews1like8CommentsI am on the basic plan. Hi. I've searched the forum/web and can't seem to find any answer to this problem. Until a couple of weeks ago I could edit in all Office-files in Dropbox via both iPad and iPhone. Then earlier this week I suddenly can't do this, and I'm asked to log-in with a 365 subscription. Has there been a change I haven'r been awere of, and do I now have to have an active 365 subscription? I use Dropbox basic, and the files are .docx and .xlsx. Thank you for your time. Hi, I'm running Dropbox on Windows 10 and everything is basically working fine. Some time ago I noticed a new service called "Dbxsvc" running on my computer. It runs from a file named dbxsvc.exe in my Windows System32 folder. Is this some kind of malware or some new part of the Dropbox program? I know there are two otherdbxsvc.exe files on my computer. They are in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\driver_amd64\dbxsvc.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\driver_x86\dbxsvc.exe They seems legitimate. But this third one in System32 is the one running the "Dbxsvc"service. I've managed to shut downand delete the service and then delete the file itself. Dropbox still works just fine. The thing is, this file reappears randomly. So should I leave it or be worried about it? No other strange behavior on my pc and Windows Defender doesn't seem to have a problem with this file. If anyone can help, thanks!Solved51KViews0likes26CommentsHow to share photos from Dropbox
