Dropbox Basic
171 TopicsLost bonus space
I use Basic Dropbox for almost 10 years. During my professional life I recommended dropbox to many colleagues, so I regularly owned an additional 0.5 GB because of that. Moreover, at some moment I bought a Samsung Tablet (10") and because of this purchase I got - from Samsung - an additional 5GB space on dropbox. So, in total my dropbox is about 9GB, from which about 65% is used. I can (could...) still save files on my dropbox, since I still "own" some 2.8GB free space. Then, a few weeks ago I bought a new PC. Old one was getting too slow.New one is HP 2-in-1, core i7, 1Tb SSD and I started installing various software programs on it. Then I added dropbox to it. I was not really amused when I got a notification from the dropbox system that the maximum space that I could occupy is... only 2GB! This is of course not possible, since I already "owned" 9GB. Not all my data has been copied on the new PC, and I am not able to store new data. This does not work. So, I suggested that they (dropbox) provide me again the previous 9GB and allow me to use all not yet used space (35%), just like it was before. No reaction, no comment, ticket closed. "Sorry, no support for Basic Dropbox". Stay away from it.Solved12KViews1like18CommentsLost earned storage data after downgrading subscripiton
I have used drop box for many years for free and had accumulated 5.75 Gb of extra storage space from inviting friends to dropbox. For the last few years I needed more space so got a Plus account. Recently, I downgraded back to a free Basic account and, although in my history still says that I have earned 5.75Gb of storage space, my account has reverted to only the 2 gb that one gets when signing up for free. It seems impossible to contact dropbox support. Does anybody know how to get those lost Gbs back??? Many thanks in advanceSolved7.8KViews2likes19CommentsMy Folder is Empty, yet it says it's full.
I have absolutely NOTHING in my folder, yet it says it's full whenever I try to drag something to it. I have the basic version. I share with someone who has the 1TB program and he has A LOT of stuff in his. But... That is HIS Folder, it is NOT MY FOLDER. So If this is the reason (which after reading a few other posts, I get the feeling that it might be), this is a total and complete BS program. How the hell am I supposed to control what other people do and have in their folders. MY folder is empty, that should be the ONLY criteria of whether or not my "DropBox Is Full." Could someone please explain why my folder is proclaimed full if it is other than what I posted above? Thank you in advance.Solved6.5KViews0likes8CommentsDropbox says I am running out of space, however I deleted everything and the issue remains
I am a free user. According to dropbox, I have used more than 2 gb. But I have moved all the files on dropbox to another folder and i could see that the total size of the files is only 132 mb. And also, I can see the same message that I have used more than allocated space when, in fact, there was no file of mine on dropbox. So, why is this?Solved5.5KViews1like20Commentsexceeding storage space
I am uploading files from google Drive. I just uploaded a batch of PDF's but not all are showing in the files list. The batch went over my storage quote (2GB). I am now at 124% of my quota. No problem, I will undo the upload or return files back to Google Drive. Can I do this? The options seem only to be "delete" or "Upgrade plan". But I can't access the files I just tried to upload. I also clicked (before upload) the "delete files from source after upload" option. 1. Can I access the batch of files that went over my limit that I just tried to upload? How? 2. Can I undo the action and return the files to Google Drive? 3. Were the files that exceeded the quote also deleted from google Drive? In essence, these files (not appearing in Dropbox) are now "in limbo" until I pay for an upgrade or delete files? (I can't move files now - because I've exceeded my storage limit. 4. Since deleting files now permanently deletes the files (and downloads are not an option (my hard drive hasn't the space). Moving is also not an option Dropbox allows.) am I stuck with having to pay for an upgrade ($18 per month)? 5. If I pay for the upgrade, I assume I can access the files in limbo (if they are indeed in limbo - I batched the upload so I don't know if Dropbox deleted them from Google drive). 6. Why does Dropbox allow for you to exceed your quota, then hostage the files that represent the overage, until you pay? Would it not be possible to stop the upload before the limit is reached? So customers can avoid being put in this position? That is, avoid being forced to delete files, or forced dot download them - which may encounter hand drive storage capacity issues (which is why we use dropbox) - or third, and short of the first two untenable options - be forced to buy a Dropbox plan? Wouldn't it be more up front and direct and customer-friendly just to say, "Hey, you're at your limit now, we've stopped uploading, buy storage to continue?" Can anyone confirm deny and or answer my concerns?5.3KViews0likes11CommentsPaid for upgrade through iOS app and got nothing
Last Wednesday: 1. In iOS app, selected Upgrade Account and selected “$9.99 a month.” 2. App charged me $99.99. 3. Dropbox account stayed at Basic. Since Friday, been trying to find out what I can do to get my account set to Plus. But Dropbox claims it’s Apple’s issueand Apple’s troubleshooting says that I have to contact Dropbox. I have tickets open with both Apple and Dropbox, but neither have been answered. In the meantime, I have run out of space for a client project. Any tips for how I can get the upgrade I paid for?Solved5.1KViews0likes11CommentsExpiry notifications that files will expire in 2 days, why is that?
I'm getting a notification saying my files expire in two days. I don't have any bonus space just a basic account of 2GB. There is 785 MB of stored files in my account. I thought this service was for storage and can't understand why anything under the 2 gb limit would expire. Does it disappear? Very disappointing if so. Notifications don't pop on my computer so I wouldn't have even known had I not checked the account. Ps I should add I've searched the help files and the community here but there doesn't seem to be any reference to the issue.Solved4.2KViews0likes9Comments
