Hi Dropbox community - I'm a design researcher here at Dropbox. I'm curious about how you access Dropbox! How do you access Dropbox: the website, the desktop app (for mac/windows), and/or the mobile app (iOS, android)? For those you use, why do you use them? For those you don't, why not? Is there anything you wish you could do on one that you can't today? Why?9.5KViews6likes11CommentsI shared a folder and someone deleted the files...
I shared a folder I own with family and someone deleted the files thinking they were just deleting them off their PC as they needed the space. I didn't get a notification and now it's 3 months later and too late to restore them. All my notifications are on. Is this normal Dropbox behaviour? Shouldn't it have notified me so I could have done something?Solved4.3KViews0likes5CommentsOCR without mobile app
I have a family account and want to use OCR to create searchable PDF files. I want to use the following workflow: 1. Use Brother ADS 2800w to scan paper (German language) and send PDF file to a folder inside of my Dropbox (notice that I do not select "searchable PDF" but only "PDF" in the document scanner, since otherwise this would then firstly go to the Brother Cloud to use their OCR analysis) 2. Wait for Dropbox to autmatically (or can I trigger OCR?) apply the OCR analysis to my files, so that I can search for strings in those files let's say one day later. Is this possible? If yes, when will Dropbox analysis my files? Or is the Dropbox OCR feature limited to the mobile app? Best regards3.3KViews0likes11CommentsProblems sharing folders
Hi, sorry, is already solved, I got an Email saying there was a problem with one of the files and I needed to restore the sharing options through a link, now is everything working fine again. I'm trying to share a couple of folders with a family member and I can't find a way to do it because everything I try gives me some sort of error. When I try to create a link it doesn't and the app tells me that I have no rights to create a sharing link to that folder - I'm the owner of it, actually the only one and haven't shared it with anyone else. When I try to change the folder to shared and add a person I get the error that I have reached my invitation limit for today and I should try in 24 hours, but I have sent one single invitation in the last 24 hours and that was to the root folder, which unfortunately was too big (I'm using Dropbox Professional and the other person the free version so he cannot synchronize the root folder completely because it's too big). I've read about clearing the browser cache in other similar threads but I've done it, I've tried from two different PC's and using the browser as well as through windows explorer, nothing helps, I get those errors from the very start and I can't find a way to share the smaller folders now. Any other ideas for a solution? Cheers and thanks in advanceSolved2.7KViews0likes8CommentsAll of my files no longer available
I have several folders in my account with many files that I uploaded to save. Today I wanted to retrieve a few of the files but found out that the folder is completely empty. I never deleted any single file and purchased plenty of space for all of them. I need to recover those files. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Solved1.9KViews0likes8CommentsEDIT Powerpoint in dropbox not working

I have a sub-folder in Dropbox Family containing 180Gb of family photos. I would now like to promote it from being a sub-folder to being a root level folder. If I make that change on the Dropbox website, will each PC in our family then synchronise by deleting all files from the sub-folder and then downloading them all again (will take a very long time)? Or will each PC simply move the files without deleting/redownloading (much quicker)? What is the quickest and most effective way to make that change?1KViews0likes4Comments
