21 TopicsTransfer Dropbox Backup to New Mac
I recently bought a new Mac and used the Apple Migration Assistant to transfer all of my data from my old machine to my new one. This included the Dropbox folder and everything else. The migration went smoothly (in the past I have had issues migrating the Dropbox folder) and now I have all of my files on my new machine exactly as they appeared before. I used Dropbox Backup on my old machine, and so the Music, Movies and Pictures folders are stored inside the hidden folder titled "Mac" in the main Dropbox folder, and their original location is replaced with an alias. I now would like to set up Dropbox Backup on my new machine to backup these folders exactly like it did on my old one. However, when I go into Dropbox preferences, it asks if I would like to backup my Mac and shows all of the unticked options for folders to backup. I was wondering what the best way to setup Dropbox Backup on my new computer would be? Do I have to delete the backup, move the folders back into their original location and create a new backup? Or is there a way of telling Dropbox that this machine should inherit the backup of my old machine? I am still currently in possession of my old machine so I can access things from there if necessary. I thought it would be best to wait and hear the correct way of doing this, since I have tried in the past to fix things very quickly myself making the situation worse, as I have seen other people with similar stories do.3.4KViews0likes25CommentsDesktop app on Mac crashes when trying to link a second account
Hi I was using Dropbox Beta with the new cloud storage location in Ventura. I had both personal and business account on the desktop app. Things were working mostly ok, but I was having some issues with syncing, so I thought I should try leaving the beta. that's when all the problems started. After I left the beta, I could no longer add a second account to the desktop app. I tried adding the Personal account then adding the Business acount. I tried adding the Business account, then adding the Personal account. When I add the second account, Dropbox crashes and it doesn't login. So I went back to the beta to see if that made a difference and it hasn't. So now I'm stuck with only my Business account in the beta Is there anyway to fully reset Dropbox on the computer to fix this? thanks PaulSolved3.1KViews0likes27CommentsDropbox account already connected to secondary email

I have been on a bit of a journey with Dropbox since I upgraded to 2T. I initially synched about 300GB from an external drive to the C: drive by mistake. I seem to have that resolved. Then I moved the Dropbox folder to the external drive in the hope that if my previous problem recurred the files would end up there and not on C: Now I have an issue with a key app that stores it's data on Dropbox. It still works fine on my mobile devices but the copy on my PC finds the path to the external volume invalid. I tried to move the Dropbox folder back to my user folder on C: but the Dropbox app says there is already a Dropbox folder in that location. Any suggestions about what to do next? I was considering uninstalling Dropbox and staring over before. Is it time to do that now?Solved1.4KViews0likes6CommentsIncorrect email for verification. What do I do?
DB is sending verification emails to an unknown email address, not the one I provided upon purchase of my account. I am locked out of everything, including Chat. I cannot seem to contact them. While using Dropbox, I have been asked several times to grant Word acces to a file in some Dropbox folder, running (perfectly) on MacOS Ventura (I installed it on the previous version). Maybe this is why Dropbox is now mentioned several times in the MacOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders > Word, as shown in the image below. How can I remove those entries? I hoped uninstalling Dropbox would also clear them, but it didn't.Solved1.2KViews0likes2CommentsMany files show 0 size on new mac mini
I have a new mac mini with ventana, and setup for it to use dropbox. BUT many files show 0 size. BUT if I open them, the data is there! I suspect there is a setting somewhere that delays dowload/sync until they are used? I really want the files there for offline use.Solved1.1KViews0likes2CommentsSync 2 Folders in separte locations
Personal Plus I have a Mac with 512 GB space. While the SSD is helpful for editing and such, I need to free up some space but I still need my files to be available in dropbox. I want to move my project folders that are within that Dropbox folder to an external disk. I need those folders within the external disk to retain sync with my Dropbox folder. I have the backup option set up but I want the files (photos) to be seen directly from the DB app and not through the backup option. Is this allowed?Solved968Views0likes4Comments
