Dropbox randomly updated to some new version and said everything is moving to Library/CloudStorage or something like that, now I can't open files directly in Spotlight OR find using folder search in Finder (although global search "This Mac" works). Biggest issues: 1. Searching using spotlight and clicking on it DOES NOTHING! 2. If I am in a folder within Dropbox folder on my Mac, and I want to search for a file IN that folder using Finder, it doesn't find any file if I search using the search box in Finder, I have to click "This Mac" to find files but it finds files from EVERYWHERE when I only want to find files from within that specific Dropbox folder that I am currently in How do I fix this? I need this functionality working ASAP ! Moderated edited to remove swearingSolved8.9KViews9likes34CommentsCan't Drag and Drop into Dropbox from Finder Sidebar
I hope this is the correct place to post this. I commonly drag things from a local drive into Dropbox in Finder, using the sidebar, usually to upload for client access. It is a common enough action that the following problem is a significant workflow hampering. When I try to drag things into dropbox using the sidebar, it won't let me. A slashed-through circle icon appears. Why is this? Is it a permissions thing? Can this be fixed? I know it does no good, but I must be allowed a short rant. Dropbox worked FINE. I don't know why this new "update" needed to happen (demands of Apple's increasingly strict OS updates?), but it is just so frustrating when an "update" is not as functional as previous versions. Now I have to take 10 minutes out of my day to post about this in hopes that there is a fix. There are workarounds, sure, but you do this action 100s of times a day, the extra 3-4 seconds it takes adds up. Also it's a just a dumb problem to be having. Ok rant over.Solved6.3KViews8likes26CommentsLinux App for ARM Processors (Fedora)
I would love to be able to use Dropbox on my Fedora Linux computer, however, it is running on an ARM processor. Right now, Dropbox only supports x86_x64 processors. I know this is probably a very small population of users, but I cannot be the only one with this unique need.1.7KViews3likes4CommentsIssues with Dropbox File Provider on the Mac
I am writing this both on behalf of myself (personal pro account), but also a company I am director (business account). But moreover, as member of a large ongoing discussion with a number of other professionals who, like myself work in the music industry who are experiencing huge issues with the new file provider version of dropbox. Many of whom are already leaving dropbox I appreciate that it is Apple that have enforced the new API. However, the new version is not fit for purpose for the following reasons: 1> Not being able to keep dropbox on an external drive is an essential for people like myself who have large projects that they need to share with other collaborators, but need ready access to. It is simply not realistic or possible to try and have all this data on the main SSD. In my case I have a Mac mini with 256GB SSD as a server for my assistants and I, connected to a much larger drive array. 2>uploads/downlaods are broken with the new fileprovider. I've been waiting 2 days for files to upload that should have taken 2 hours. Files randomly appear suddenly switch to online only, some files never upload and some never download. The basic function of dropbox is not working 3>Dropbox is deleting files randomly. This is the most worying of all. A number of files have either been deleted (and I've had to recover from deleted files and time machine) OR in the case of logic projects, the .logicx files are dissapearing randomly My main computer is a Mac Studio M2, running Ventura but we are also experiencing the same issues on M1 Mac Studios on monteray and Mac mini M1 on monteray Can dropbox tell us that there is a pathway in place to resolve this, or should we just cancel our subscriptions nowSolved5.2KViews2likes25CommentsError message appearing during basic navigation of the Dropbox website
Guys Come on... what's with the generic error message that I've been getting for the last 3 hours?? You don't have a function to upload an image but basically itsays: " Error.Something went wrong. Don`t worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check out ourStatus Pageto see if there is a known incident, ourHelp centerandforumsfor help, or head back tohome." I can't navigate folders through the browser...😒 On the same day I'm trying to get a major proposal together.... 😒 On the same day that you take my monthly payment.... 😒 Your status page says 'no problems' Please help or explain what's going onSolved1.5KViews1like6CommentsIs the current dropbox version for macOS known to be buggy and are fixes in sight
Signed up to a 2TB plan as I believe that Dropbox is one of the best and also can do incremental updates The issue is that the app on macOS seems to have constant issues with syncing and marking numerous files as "sync error" The same set of files on OneDrive does not do this This is on an M1 Max with 32GB running 14.2.1 Any pointers to fix this would be welcome as I've not resorted to using Dropbox through CloudMounter Note: The files in question have no funny characters in them. All are [A-Z][a-z][0-9] in format __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on2023-12-23: After doing a bit of further exploring on the forum, I logged and logged back in which resulted in: This created a folder calledDropbox (2023-12-23 10/51) - This I imagine can be deleted? When logging back in (after the initial sync) it asked for the to upgrade the file provider which I allowed it (which is strange as I did this previously as well) It placed the newly synced files in the same place as previously After an attempt to sync to the same set of folders, it had the same issues, but When creating an entirely new set of folders and coping all my files to them, I had no more sync warnings This leads me to believe that there is a bug and certain states that the software gets itself into are not "caught" by the app for self rectification. A suggestion is that devs should ensure that the app is more "self-healing" and also do some stratification of the generic "sync error" allowing a user to have more insight into what is going on I'm monitoring but so far, so good1.9KViews1like8CommentsWill I be forced to update Dropbox, and if so, when will this be, and what will happen?
My last post was moved into a thread that had already been solved but didn't answer my question, so it just hid it. I'd appreciate an answer to the questions below. I'd like to know if/when I will be forced to update to the new Dropbox? As mentioned, updating Dropbox and moving my files to /Library/CloudStorage will not work for me, so I need to plan accordingly. Currently, I haven't updated, and I'm continuing to use Dropbox perfectly. Will there come a time when Dropbox forces me to update? If so, when will this be? What will be the process? Will I wake up one day and Dropbox says I can no longer use it without updating. Or will it update automatically? Will Dropbox attempt to move my entire 2GB folder (and millions of files) to the Library/CloudStorage folder? What happens if there is not enough space on the volume? Will it copy some of it and then run out of space? What will happen to my Dropbox account at this point? My entire business is built around Dropbox, so if one day I'm suddenly unable to use my account, it will be disastrous. Hi, I am running MacOS 13.1 on a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro. All of a sudden, several days after I updated to the latest OS version, the blue syncing, and green check marks no longer appear in the finder for my Dropbox Files. According to the menubar icon it is still syncing, and in the web version I think my files are still updating. I am using Dropbox v163.4.5456. I am on a Professional Plan. Are there any known issues? Any way to fix this? Any more info you need in order to help me out? I appreciate any and all responses3KViews1like8CommentsWindows 11 context menu items disappeared (version 159.4.5870)
I have two Windows systems that use Dropbox Pro. On both systems, the Dropbox items on the Explorer context menus disappeared after the Dropbox app upgraded itself to 159.4.5870. I hadn't opened one of those systems for a few weeks: when I booted it up today, the context menu items were visible as they always have been - then Dropbox updated itself, and the context menu items disappeared, and they haven't reappeared after three reboots. This seems to be a fairly common problem. Is there a solution?Solved2.1KViews1like3Comments
