Yesterday I uploaded a movie file to Dropbox for some friends to download. Immediately after, I decided to check from a browser that wasn't logged in, to see what it would look like for them if they didn't have a Dropbox account. I was shocked to discover, under “Activity”: “Patricia Johnson downloaded this file” and “Anthony Abate viewed this file” (neither name recognised by me): So, then I logged in to investigate, but only saw “Traffic and insights: See who’s visiting... Upgrade to Dropbox Professional to start tracking.”: Surely this isn’t a scare tactic to get me to upgrade to a paid account, is it??Solved33KViews1like12CommentsIs Dropbox on web slow and fails often on you?

Hi, I have Dropbox Pro myself, so uploading files should be no problem. The key question is: What is the optimum ZIP file size is so that a client who does not have a Dropbox subscription can download them? I cannot find a clear answer to this. In some places it says you can download a folder of 20GB or a single file of unlimited size. Is this actually the case? Can I upload a 215 GB file and assume that a client with no Dropbox subscription can actually successfully download it? Or do I need to break it down to 2GB, or 20GB or 50GB ZIP files for it to be downloadable at the other end? I am NOT going to ask the client to get a Dropbox subscription in order to download the files.Solved5KViews0likes11Comments.JPG Files are Supported but Something Went Wrong.
Hi there, I'm a freelance photographer / creative and I use Dropbox for most of my clients simply because it's fast and it is always fuss-free when it comes to sharing across deliverables or photographs. I never had a problem with Dropbox for the past 4 years or so and now I'm constantly facing this issue which really annoys me and I might change Cloud if this problem persists or if there isn't any solution to this. I've went through most parts of this forum and google-d for solution but none of it works. If anyone could help - this would be greatly appreciated. Some information that you all might need or ask. Screenshot of the problem: *This is a screenshot that my client(s) sent me. I though it might be a one-off thing but I'm getting the same problem from 2 or more clients already. Details: - I am using Dropbox Professional - I am only utilizing 256GB out of my available 2TB Storage. - I am using Windows and not Macbook/Apple. - The photographs are viewable on my end, I can open them in Preview / Photo Viewer - The files are not extremely large, each photo is about 2-3MB only. - I've tried re-exporting photographs in even lower-resolution and my client still are unable to view the photographs. - My clients tried using 2 different phones (Apple), a Windows Computer but they're unable to view the photographs still. - I sent them with an "anyone with the link" can view or access the folder option. - File names do not have funky lettering or data / titles. They are all named - DSC1001.jpg (and so on..) - Photographs are not uploaded via external storage. All internal storage HDD, then uploaded onto Dropbox folder (newly created folders) - I've tried clearing my browser cache and I still face this problem *I won't say this is a solution but with the same folder and files, I used another cloud platform and it worked for my client. PLEASE HELP. I LOVE DROPBOX AND I WANT TO CONTINUE BEING A USER3.8KViews0likes21CommentsMany files not in cloud after removing & deleting client from former company's laptop
Hi this may be a popular question... I was using the free version of Dropbox to back up content from a few years back...work related stuff from a long-ago job. Nothing proprietary, but important to me.My assumption is that this is a common problem and Dropbox has them backed up somewhere unless I inadvertently deleted them permanently. How can I determine if it's possible to get back the files that were lost? Sequence of events & unsuccessful strategies so far: 9 weeks ago, I left my last job and deleted all (everything) of the content from the Dropbox client from my work computer and then uninstalled the client. I ensured that all files were still in the cloud version of Dropbox before and after this procedure. 2 weeks ago, I installed the Dropbox client on my new computer and now hundreds (but not all) of my files are missing! I looked at "Recent Activity" in the cloud version of my account and can see a record of where I apparently deleted these files on July 26th...I did many screen captures of the deleted items listed in the activity log (see screengrab below). Using "Deleted Files" for any or all folders w missing content has resulted in nothing; there are no deleted files listed in the folder in general, regardless of the locations or dates selected. Using "Rewind" also does not work because the folders cannot be rewound to July 26th, for whatever reason. I even started a trial of Dropbox Pro in order to see if I have the capability of rewinding my account to contain everything that was there on July 25th...that would be awesome! It did not work. Thanks in advance!Solved3.4KViews0likes16CommentsFile syncing and opening problems after required Mac update
Working on a MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.0.1, I was required to update my Dropbox which required the full migration on Mac. This was done in the past few weeks. Ever since then, there have been major problems with file syncing and opening files in the app on Mac: 1) Many times I will double click, and keep clicking on, a file in the Dropbox app in the Finder window. Nothing happens. 2) Sometimes when I click a file in the Dropbox app in the Finder window, it reroutes me to the Dropbox website, rather than to the app in question (Word, Excel, etc.). Then the only way to open is to manually go to the program and open it, though this does not always work either. It's like the Dropbox app is no longer recognized. This is really frustrating and frankly unacceptable behavior considering the price of the app and that I did not do anything to invite it. Has anyone had the same problems and what is occurring to fix this? Thank you!2.4KViews1like9CommentsUnable to view folders on iPhone, app freezes.
Hello, I have not been able to use the Dropbox app on my iPhone 14 pro for about a week now. I have contacted customer support daily and haven't received any help at all so I am now attempting the community. I have deleted and downloaded the dropbox app 4 times now. I have cleared the cache on the app as well. I have restarted the phone numerous times. Nothing works as the app freezes anytime I try to go to a folder. Does anyone have any suggestions??1.6KViews0likes10CommentsUnable to relocate folders following repair
Does anyone know how to relocate folders? I can see them on the Events page, but I can't figure out how to move them, en masse, to their original place. They're not showing on Explorer, or anywhere else, other than by following a link provided by Dropbox techies.Solved1.3KViews0likes2Comments
