File requests
116 TopicsDoes the file request upload size limit affect trial plans?
The documentation states the following, but despite multiple attempts to upload a 250GB file through the file request feature, it consistently results in an error and the upload does not complete. Since we are currently conducting a Proof of Concept (PoC) and using the Dropbox Business Plus Trial plan, could this limitation be due to the trial version? Customers on Dropbox Professional, Essentials, Business, Business Plus, Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise can receive files up to 250GB in size. I have received a file request from another user, to upload a folder into his storage "area". I got the email, clicked the link, and got a window with a file submission area. I pressed the upload button. There was no response, no "upload started" or "progress" message. I cannot tell if the folder is being uploaded or has been uploaded. Eventually I can ask the requester if he got the files, but that is potentially a tedious back-and-forth process (especially if the upload failed, or didn't even start). Is there a way for the non-requester to verify that the file is being uploaded?22Views0likes2CommentsNothing happens when I click on the "Create" button to open a file request.
I have been trying for a couple of days to create a new file request but it's not working. Once you click 'Create' the thinking spinning wheel never completes. Tried different folders, tried over multiple days. Google Chrome. nothing... It wont let me link to a screenshot sorry8Views0likes1CommentUnable to click "Share" when creating a File Request.
Hi...I'm a new DropBox user with an Essential plan but in the 1 month trial period. When I create a File Request, I enter the Title and Description and then click Create. DropBox allows me to Create a Folder and then it asks me to enter the email address that I want the receiver to get and then the receiver will upload PDF's that I need and the receiver should be able to send them back to me. When I enter the correct email address, below that field, it has the dropbox link and says to either copy (and send the link via regular email, but I want to Share the Dropbox Link by clicking on the buttons below, either DONE or SHARE. The button for DONE can be clicked on but the SHARE button is grayed out and I cannot click on it. SO, I clicked on DONE but it the receive has not received my email from DropBox. I never get to the point of being able to click on SHARE (Because it remains greyed out and I cannot click it) and therefore, I beleive the email is not being sent to the receiver. Cannot someone tell me how to fix this issue......since I am in the trial, if I cannot use the DropBox File Request buttons and box to request files from a receiver, I do not believe I want to pay for an account after the trial period. THANK YOU. Searching through the forum, I've tried using a different browser and clearing cookies, but I get the same issue. Any suggestions? ALSO THE ONLY LABEL I COULD CHOSE BELOW WAS DROPBOX TRANSFER...IT DOES NOT CONTAIN A FILE REQUEST LABEL. Thanks.261Views0likes5CommentsClickable link that allows users to upload files?
I work with subcontractors(roofers, window installers, etc) that submit their pictures of completed work into shared Dropbox folders with the office. I want to add a clickable link on our PDF labor bills. Is there a generic link that crews could like that would automatically open their app on their phone? I don't want to have to use their dedicated shared folder link.414Views0likes4CommentsExtremely slow uploads using browser
Hey there. I currently use Dropbox for sharing files and upload my files mostly using the desktop app, which uses my full internet connection of 1Gbps, usually easy and no errors. My main issue: Some of my peers also use dropbox and will send me upload requests and vice/versa. These apparently can only be done through a browser, at least I haven't found a way to use the app yet, which takes absolutely ages. I've tried using different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Opera) or different machines (Win11, Mac and a linux distro) and it will not change how fast it goes. Also this connection is frequently dropped and the uploader shows as if all the files are uploaded, but when checking we see that some files are missing, sometimes a lot, sometimes a few. Is there a way to use the desktop app to share files with someone else's dropbox link? If not, is there are way to make the browser upload faster? I use a few other services that require browser uploading (WeTransfer, Vimeo, Youtube, Pixieset, GoogleDrive) and Dropbox is the only one that is slow. I just did a test of uploading 700 raw photos and it took the desktop app a little over 3 minutes while the browser still has over 45 minutes to go. Thanks anyone for the help, I couldn't find anything anywhere about this, hopefully is fixable!2.9KViews0likes25CommentsData is suddenly missing from "File Request" folder but files appear as thumbnails
All of the files stored in the /File Requested/XYZ screenshots/ folders suddenly disappear; however, the files appear as thumbnails above, and no data has been deleted, according to the log. WTF is this?190Views0likes2CommentsFile request upload failing on large file
Hi, seems that I can't actually talk directly to dropbox without upgrading my plan so I will try the hive mind! Our company has steered away from using Dropbox but clients have provided file request links for us to upload to so we are obliged to use them. Trouble is that of the 4 files I need to send, only the 1.5 GB and 2 x 22GB files go through. The 116GB file spends an age trying to upload, then fails. Initially the first client, it seemed that they had the lower business tier that only accepted a max single file size of 100GB. They have updated their plan but the same thing occurs, spends ages trying, gets to about 60 - 80% complete then fails and advises to try again, no real error message. Another client linked to the same job has sent us their file request and the same thing happens - this client is the BFI who will no doubt have received files larger than our 116GB ProRes - yet I get the same results. From our side I have upload large files to numerous platforms before without issue and I am using a 1Gbps, uncontended line. Any thoughts or similar experiences? Thanks!455Views0likes8Comments
