Hi there I had a problem where I noticed one day about a month or so ago that my backup of my current computer had disappeared so couldnt access any files from my computer on my phone. The only way I could see to fix it was to reinstall dropbox on my computer which it fix the backup problem. However I now have a problem on my computer where my windows explorer shows two indentical dropbox folders. How do I remove of them without losing any files? Anything I do to one of the folders affects the other, they both have the same files and both sync. Thanks in advance.Solved6.7KViews1like29CommentsDropbox "folder" on computer, how does it work?
Not sure about the category. I have files in many folders on my computer. I want to use Dropbox as a Cloud, for storage only, occasionally for sending a video file to someone (which I've done). The free service is limiting in amount of files I can upload, so I'm thinking of purchasing a 2 or 3 TB account. 1) As you know, when I drag files from a folder onto the website, they also appear in a Dropbox folder on my computer. It LOOKS LIKE the files were copied to this folder. I need to know if this Dropbox folder is virtual, and that the files (mostly videos) are NOT taking up space on my computer/external hard drive. Since I want to use Dropbox AS a backup, I don't want it to backup files onto my computer. 2) Is it possible to copy entire FOLDERS as a folder onto Dropbox? And maybe create folders on Dropbox? 3) What is the Dropbox Vault? Does it apply to a single user? Replies much appreciated, thanks.Solved6KViews1like8CommentsNew Dropbox folder structure is affecting my syncing
With the introduction of the new version of Dropbox ( I have 183.4.7058 now), there have been issues with its functionality. In the main Dropbox folder, besides the working shared folder, a folder with my name has appeared. This setup is not suitable for my work as it disrupts the links for files shared for general use. My colleague created a new folder in the shared folder of our organization, but I can't synchronize it on my computer. Therefore, I decided to reinstall Dropbox and restart the computer. However, after these actions, Dropbox doesn't display or synchronize any files at all. The folder is empty, and the indexing process has been going on for more than a day without any noticeable changes. Please help me figure this out and restore my usual settings for normal operation.547Views1like5Commentsaccessing online-only files from macos terminal
I have a large, shared dropbox folder that is set to "online-only", but I want to make specific files available offline. I know I can do this via right clicks in the Finder window for individual files, but I need to do this for many files. How can I do this via the macOS terminal? I'm using macOS 12.6, and dropbox v166.4.29203.3KViews1like13CommentsMoving the Dropbox folder
In the desktop app, it was simple to move the Dropbox folder to a different location (using Preferences). Now that it seems the desktop app is discontinued, I can't find any way to move the Dropbox folder at all. Is it possible? If so, how?! Thank you!Solved5.7KViews1like9CommentsStrange folder icon appears on most of my Dropbox files
