Hi there, I have only been able to find examples opposite of my situation so I apologize if this is frequently asked. Basically, I have around 200gb + and counting everyday of files in a shared company Dropbox with our work emails. I made the mistake of downloading the app and syncing the files to my Mac before realizing what I had done. Since then I have signed out from the application and uninstalled it but still have the Dropbox folder of everything (I believe up to that day) on my computer. Am I safe to delete this folder now that I have deleted the application? I want to make sure it doesn't remove all of the shared files from the company dropbox that others need. The folder on my hard drive says it was last modified over a couple weeks ago which I believe is when I un-synced the application, and there have been things posted to dropbox since then. I appreciate any help or insight I can get here, thanks.Solved20KViews0likes13CommentsMoving Dropbox folder from ~/Library/CloudStorage
What is the reason for not allowing me to specify where I want to save my Dropbox files in Ventura? I don't have enough space in my system drive to keep a copy of my Dropbox files. And yes, I need a local copy at all times. I tried replacing the folder with a symlink pointing to an external drive but that does not work. Dropbox just refuses to load and these are the last lines of the log file: Traceback (most recent call last): File "dropbox/client/main.pyc", line 5055, in _setup_root_for_account File "dropbox/sync_root/helpers.pyc", line 164, in create_root_for_account File "dropbox/foundation/futures/basic.pyc", line 853, in result File "dropbox/sync_root/handlers/macos/file_provider.pyc", line 121, in set_result_or_convert_exception dropbox.mac.internal.MacError: [Errno 62] Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=62 "Too many levels of symbolic links" It looks like 1 level of symbolic links is one level too many. A search for Venture did not yield any results I found relevant. I need to know how to relocate the Dropbox folder. If I cannot relocate the folder, Dropbox loses its utility and that only means I will have to look for alternatives. I really hope I don't need to do that.Solved19KViews2likes26CommentsThe local Dropbox folder keeps re-appearing, even after deleting it.
I want to totally remove Dropbox from my Windows 11 PC. I have tried all on-line suggestions and the folder still comes back after I delete it. I have turned off the wireless so nothing can update it from outside and it still comes back. I suspect something on the PC is doing this but don't know what it is. I also ran a command to repair a supposed corrupt Recycle Bin but that didn't work either. Hi there I had a problem where I noticed one day about a month or so ago that my backup of my current computer had disappeared so couldnt access any files from my computer on my phone. The only way I could see to fix it was to reinstall dropbox on my computer which it fix the backup problem. However I now have a problem on my computer where my windows explorer shows two indentical dropbox folders. How do I remove of them without losing any files? Anything I do to one of the folders affects the other, they both have the same files and both sync. Thanks in advance.Solved6.6KViews1like29CommentsDropbox Migration to a New Mac With the New Cloud Storage Setup
On my primary computer, I keep all Dropbox files in offline mode. I've updated to the new Dropbox setup that places the Dropbox folder in ~/Library/CloudStorage. I'm wondering what will happen when I move to a new Mac in the future. In the past, the macOS transfer program would transfer all my files to the new computer's drive, and then Dropbox would reindex them (rather than having to redownload all the files from Dropbox). What will happen now with the new Dropbox setup? Thanks.Solved6.4KViews1like26CommentsDropbox very slow with Windows explorer
After wasting time, as usual, with Dropbox's assistance, I try to ask here. My problem is relatively simple to explain and consists in the fact that if I use Windows Explorer, navigating in the Dropbox folder is torture since any operation it's very slow (creating a folder, copying a file, etc...) while if I use, for example (but it couldn't be the solution) a file explorer like Explorer++ everything works perfectly. Another thing I verified is that if I navigate to the Dropbox folder from a Windows window that opens for example when I want to open/save a file, everything works without problems. The problem remains confined to windows explorer. Can anybody help me? Thank you6.1KViews7likes12CommentsDropbox "folder" on computer, how does it work?
Not sure about the category. I have files in many folders on my computer. I want to use Dropbox as a Cloud, for storage only, occasionally for sending a video file to someone (which I've done). The free service is limiting in amount of files I can upload, so I'm thinking of purchasing a 2 or 3 TB account. 1) As you know, when I drag files from a folder onto the website, they also appear in a Dropbox folder on my computer. It LOOKS LIKE the files were copied to this folder. I need to know if this Dropbox folder is virtual, and that the files (mostly videos) are NOT taking up space on my computer/external hard drive. Since I want to use Dropbox AS a backup, I don't want it to backup files onto my computer. 2) Is it possible to copy entire FOLDERS as a folder onto Dropbox? And maybe create folders on Dropbox? 3) What is the Dropbox Vault? Does it apply to a single user? Replies much appreciated, thanks.Solved6KViews1like8Comments
