15 TopicsHow to change order of subfolders within a folder?
How can I change the order of subfolders within a folder (on the Dropbox web app). I don't see any way to rearrange the order in which the folders appear. Many web apps allow one to simply drag drop to reorder folders. Can this be done in the web app, and if not, can it be done in the Mac app?33Views0likes3CommentsGenerating hierarchical folder structure overview in Dropbox
Hello Dropbox Community, We are looking for a way to generate an overarching view of our folder structure in Dropbox. Specifically, we need an overview that shows how the folders are organized hierarchically. For example, the "Testing" folder contains several subfolders, each of which may have additional nested subfolders, and so on. Our goal is to obtain a report that illustrates how these folder structures are configured, without accessing or revealing the contents of the files themselves. Has anyone found a way to generate such an overview within Dropbox? If so, we would appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to achieve this. Thanks in advance for your help!23Views0likes1CommentWhat tool does Dropbox use to zip folders for download?
Summary: I’m trying to figure out how to create a usable zip file out of files that have non-ASCII filenames, so I’d like to find out what zip tool Dropbox uses when I download a folder from Dropbox. Background: It turns out that most zip-file-creation tools cause problems when you try to zip a file that has a non-ASCII filename. But when I download a folder from Dropbox that contains files with non-ASCII filenames, the folder arrives on my computer in the form of a zip file that correctly includes those files. So whatever tool Dropbox is using (internally) to automatically create zip files for download is doing exactly what I want to do. Workaround: If I want to zip a folder, I can upload it to Dropbox and then download it. That works, but it takes a lot of bandwidth and time. Question: So I’d like to find out what zip-file-creation tool Dropbox is using to create zip files for download, in hopes that I can use that same tool (or something similar) on my local computer, to be able to correctly zip non-ASCII filenames without having to upload and download to and from Dropbox. So do any of you know what Dropbox uses to create zip files for download? thanks, —JedSolved158Views0likes4CommentsI'm trying to download large folders from the web, but not all of them are downloaded.
I have a large folder full of (other smaller folders filled with) videos files that I am trying to download and store on an external harrd drive to have a backup of these videos. In total, it comes to ~7 Tb. I have tried downloading each of the smaller folders one at a time but this often results in not all of the videos files downloading. Does anyone know of a better way to do this? Thank you in advance!18Views0likes1CommentBring back the blue-folder folder thumbnails
Dropbox, please allow users to choose the plain blue folders for folder thumbnails. The photo-collage folder thumbnails introduced about 2 years ago are distracting and randomly irrelevant to folder content. At least make the blue-folder thumbnail an option. Thank you!27Views1like3CommentsView prior contents of enclosing folders
I'm a novice in terms of using Dropbox for anything other than syncing my devices. So this question is probably a Dropbox 101 type. I'd like to view several folders at different points in history. Within the past 30 days. I thought I found the applicable help suggestion but it didn't work. Thanks for any help.35Views0likes9CommentsNewly added documents don't show up on our Dropbox.
We are having a problem where new documents being added to our DropBox are not showing up. The person who added the documents can see them but no one else can. I can't tell what documents are and are not syncing either. Right now some of our documents from 2 months ago aren't showing up.Solved90Views0likes16CommentsMessage from the Dropbox app that "1 File is Unable to Sync".
Hi, I am a longterm user of Dropbox on Windows desktop. I have one dropbox folder/file that is not syncing. All the rest of my files are syncing fine. The message I get from the Dropbox app is "1 File is Unable to Sync" I tried exiting the app and then rebooting the app. And, that didn't solve the issue. I also renamed the problematic file in the cloud and then didn't solve the issue. I tried to rename the problematic file on my desktop but it wont allow me. It gives me the error message "This action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open to another program." I have checked all my programs and I don't see any program running any file in that folder. Any thoughts on how to proceed? Thanks.Solved87Views0likes3Comments
