29 TopicsI see duplicate Dropbox folders on Windows, after reinstalling the desktop app, and they both sync
Hi there I had a problem where I noticed one day about a month or so ago that my backup of my current computer had disappeared so couldnt access any files from my computer on my phone. The only way I could see to fix it was to reinstall dropbox on my computer which it fix the backup problem. However I now have a problem on my computer where my windows explorer shows two indentical dropbox folders. How do I remove of them without losing any files? Anything I do to one of the folders affects the other, they both have the same files and both sync. Thanks in advance.Solved6.6KViews1like29CommentsCan I link my old Dropbox folder again to my account after moving to a new device?
I am a DropBox Pro user since many years. Lightning destroyed my W7 PC where I had a partition 😧 with a folder named DropBox. The folder was replicated and syncronized with the DropBox cloud. Now I have a W10 PC without any partitions, only C:. My whole local DropBox folder content survived and is available here. I have installed DropBox but how do I now go about to synchronize files and folders between the cloud and the PC?Solved1.6KViews0likes19CommentsMy Dropbox folder for my workplace is missing on Mac OS
I've recently gotten a new laptop and have reinstalled Dropbox on it. My workplace has a "<Workplace> Dropbox" folder with all our relevant shared admin files and folders. These folders were visible to me yesterday, however, when I clicked on the folder today I got a random warning message. I think it was something like "Some apps on your Mac might have trouble opening online-only files. You can always open Dropbox files by double-clicking them in Finder" but I am not 100% certain. Anyway, since then, all folders are missing in my "<Workplace> Dropbox" folder. However, I can still see all the files online as well as my own personal "RyRy" folder from my workplace. What's going on? There is a blue synching icon next to the "<Workplace> Dropbox" folder, and I've set the folder to "make available offline" though I don't really want all the work files on my machine and this hasn't brought back the folder visibility. Previously, when Dropbox was working fine, I had it set so all our work files and folders were visible BUT not located on my computer unless I had opened them in which case the file would download and sync to my hard drive. I'd prefer to have this funtionality. Any advice? I'm running Sonoma 14.7 on a macbook air. Thanks! RyRy470Views0likes10CommentsHow can I reconnect to existing files/folders?
I have installed Dropbox on a new PC. The application appears to work but I'm unable to connect with an earlier-created library of files and folders. To be clear, I don't have new documents to add, I simply want access to those I added years ago. Advice?157Views0likes1CommentThe local Dropbox folder keeps re-appearing, even after deleting it.
I want to totally remove Dropbox from my Windows 11 PC. I have tried all on-line suggestions and the folder still comes back after I delete it. I have turned off the wireless so nothing can update it from outside and it still comes back. I suspect something on the PC is doing this but don't know what it is. I also ran a command to repair a supposed corrupt Recycle Bin but that didn't work either. HELP!7.6KViews0likes10CommentsHow can I access multiple Dropbox accounts on my computer?
Complicated scenario. I could use advice on getting my Dropbox accounts nicely aligned on my File Explorer again, after a disaster with the “Team” format. After having an issue with joining a Team, I need help getting access to and moving items between three different types of Dropbox accounts that I know have. To explain, I’ve used Dropbox for personal use for several years. Now, I have to deal with two other accounts. 1) my personal account; some of which I want only online and some of which I want to sync with my computer regularly. I use my personal email “A”. 2) an account that is owned by another but to which I have ownership access, not a “team”, but a a small organization of which I am a director. The organization owns the account using its own email and identification which I use to access that account. Email “B” 3) an account that is part of another organization, not the same as ‘2'; I have access to the Team folders and I control of one of those folders through a second email that I own, “C”. PROBLEM 1: At one time, Accounts 1 and 2 were accessible through my File Explorer. I could move files from one to another easily. Then, I joined the Team “3". By accepting the invitation to join the Team, it sucked up all my files, closed my personal account. The only solution to undo this was for the Team Administrator to delete me. Then, I had to wait a week + 1 day to reactivate my personal account. Once I did that, I could copy the folders specific to the “3" to it. However, I cannot get access to “2" without changing identities and I cannot now move files back and forth from “1" and “2" as I could before. PROBLEM 2: I sent an invitation to the officers of “3" to be able to View our chapter’s folder in the Team account. Dropbox responded that each needed a ‘business account’ to view the folder – is there no way to give Viewer access to people who do not have Dropbox accounts? (At one time, one could).338Views0likes1CommentHow to Sync my second hard drive again to Dropbox
I run a telescope imaging system in California while I live in Virginia. I've had Dropbox installed for a good number of years but some time back I had to stop syncing as the system was in repair. For some reason I can't seem to get sync back on. I have created the folder where the images download from the camera on the California computer located on the E:\SRO_Data drive and at home I have setup Dropbox on theF:\David_SRO\Dropbox\.dropbox. I added new files to the California drive yet nothing is syncing. The whole purpose of Dropbox for me is transferring these 35 MB files as they are acquired and save in California so I don't have a massive amount of data to download in the morning after an imaging session which is nightly if the weather is good. I don't see how to activate syncing these drives and must be missing something obvious and will take note if/when I can get this working again. thanks for any assist1.7KViews0likes14CommentsWhy do the files in my local Dropbox folder take up hard drive space?
Dear Community! Since the selection of laptops with big SSDs are limited and expensive, I thought why not store all of my data in the cloud. Dropbox seemed to be the logical option based on reviews/specs, so I created an account. While trying to transfer all of my data from extern HDD (around 1.5 TB), it looks like everything has to be stored locally on my laptop, then the data will be synced with the cloud. I thought that the dropbox-folder on my computer was a "cloud-folder", but that doesn't seems to be the case? Greatful for answers 🙂401Views0likes1CommentMy DB folder seems offline and it doesn't sync new shared files

We can't see any modifications and can't share the files. Everything was working regularily till yesterday afteroon, wifi is good and has no problem. Any suggestion?1.3KViews0likes13CommentsmacOS Monterey 12.0.1 - "Dropbox Folder Missing"
The other day, I rebooted my Mac and Dropbox greeted me with the following notification: "Dropbox Folder Missing. Your Dropbox folder has been moved or deleted from its original location. Dropbox will not work properly until you move it back. It used to be located at: /Volumes/Data/DB/Dropbox To move it back, click "Quit" below, move the Dropbox folder back to its original location, and launch Dropbox again. This computer was previously linked to xxx@xxx.com's account. If you'd like to link to an account again to download and restore your Dropbox from the web version, click "Relink". I checked to make sure the folder in question was still there -- and it is. So I quit and tried again. Same notification. So I figured it was some kind of weird glitch, relinked the account to a new Dropbox folder, downloaded files and went on with my day. Fast forward to today. I rebooted my Mac again, and when it started it, the same Dropbox notification appeared. The folder is still there. The files are still there. But Dropbox is not connecting. I'm not enthusiastic about the idea of downloading a few hundred gigs of data *again*... So what's going on with Dropbox? It's worked flawlessly so many years I've forgotten how long. Is this happening for anybody else, and what solution(s) did you find? Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.4KViews0likes14Comments
