I love DropBox and fear that my "problem" is something that I've created! I have two DropBox folders: the one in my preferences is at ~/Dropbox and has about 4GB but I also have ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox (20-12-2024 (16/41) which has 40+GB I only discovered this after "losing" changes to a file that was in the "wrong" folder. It looks as though I did something silly just pre-Christmas. So my help request is twofold: most urgently, is there an easy way to merge the wtwo folders without losing anything? (so that I don't repeat the mistake) can anyone tell me what I might have done? Thanks CliffSolved24Views0likes5CommentsOnline only option isn't working on Mac OS
Hey all, I've recently had some trouble with Dropbox files taking up hundreds of GBs on my Mac's internal storage. When I select "Make file online-only," nothing happens. My Dropbox version is 219.4.4463, and my macOS version is Sonoma 14.6.1. I’d appreciate any help! Thanks.16Views0likes3CommentsI update files on both my computers, but they're not syncing with each other.
Hi all, I have devices linked to my own dropbox account -- one is my work desktop and the other is my laptop. I had no problem reading all the files on both computers until this year. Now, suddenly, whatever I do on one computer doesnt sync to the other, and vice versa.22Views0likes3CommentsHow can I find which folders have been unchecked via selective sync on my Mac desktop app?
I want to make sure that I'm syncing my entire Dropbox to my Mac. Apparently I've unchecked folders in Selective Sync - but when I try to find out which one, they all appear to be checked. I've just spent an hour going through my entire folder structure and all the boxes are checked. Is this a bug? -- I can't seem to add a screenshot or link for some reason. I'm getting an "invalid HTML" error...39Views0likes3CommentsDropbox Backup Stalled on .dbxignore
In this forum I see previous discussions about this problem over the last 2 years, but do not see a documented solution. My Dropbox backup process reports "300.22 GB of 300.28 GB backed up, 99% complete", with the status line at the bottom of the window showing "Updating .dbxignore". This is a MacBook Pro running MacOS 15.3.2. No further progress occurs. How do I break this deadlock?14Views0likes1CommentCannot find the dropbox.cache folder (macOS Ventura)
When I try to delete a Dropbox folder it reappears almost instantly. I've tried to find the invisible "dropbox.cache" folder to clear the cache, but it isn't there. The only invisible file I see when I reveal them is a 40 byte ".dropbox" document. Everything I read seems to point to an answer that I can't implement. I'm open to any ideas. iMac 2017 macOS Ventura 13.7.4 (22H420) Dropbox app 219.4.446318Views0likes1CommentCan Dropbox back up Logic Pro Project Files?
I use Logic Pro to record my music projects on a Mac. I have an external drive connected to my Mac that I use as a primary backup for my music projects. I also have this external drive automatically backing up to Dropbox. I assumed it was backing up everything. I just noticed it is backing up everything in my folders other than the Logic Pro Project file. When I look at the backup on Dropbox, instead of seeing the ~600mb Logic Project file, I see three folders it created instead, with a some of the audio files from my project but not the entire file. In other words, what is backed up is totally different than what is on my external drive (which matches the original version on my hard drive). Has anyone seen this? The main reason I starting using Dropbox for backup's is because Apple iCloud could not handle the Logic Pro Project files. I just assumed this was an Apple thing, but maybe its something else? Thanks for your help.631Views1like6CommentsDropbox disappeared from Finder on Mac OS 15.3.2, and I can't locate it easily
Using a Macbook Pro with OS 15.3.2 (just installed last night). Now dropbox is no longer listed on the left side of the Finder options in the Location section (where it's always been). How do i get it back there or where has it been moved to? If i look under my user name, dropbox is there with my folders, but i cannot 'copy link' to send to client. Please advise.Solved39Views0likes5Comments
