I use drop box for a number of things. I just had someone who has been with me for a while with my drop box tell me he got an exact location from my drop box. he sent me a picture of my exact location on that file. This is a huge safety issue. I have an iPhone 16pro Dropbox version : 402.2.216Views0likes1CommentFamily Room - cannot customize sharing settings
Hi, I have a family plan and I'm the admin. That plan makes available to every member a shared folder "Archivio Famiglia" that stands for "Family Room" I guess. My need is to setup customized credentials to my family members, for instance, I want to give view or edit access to specific folder only. Looking at the documentation Dropbox states that it's possible to set credentials in every sub-folder.. but I don't see (from web UI) any option in menu.32Views0likes5CommentsHow can I restrict access to specific folders for specific team members?
I just set-up a Teams folder and thought it would be the solution for file sharing our engineering documents. Unfortunately the primary reason I thought Teams would work is for limiting permissions to specific folders. I don't want contractors having access to our entire suite of engineering projects. It seems ALL subfolders share the the same permission as the top level. So USELESS. i still have to share individual folders to restrict access. Same as regular dropbox. this MUST BE FIXED or Teams is useless.Solved198Views0likes6CommentsI shared files with edit rights, but the recipients can't edit them.
Hello! I have shared files with 2 members and gave them editing access. They can open dropbox on their end and see the file but cannot edit. One user was able to open a file in another window and make edits but they did not appear in the shared file. We have a family plan if that matters. I'm an admin for our work dropbox folder. I have changed the permissions in my settings so that anyone who is an editor can share an invite for another editor. However, when my colleagues have done this, the person who receives the invite can only view the folder. They are unable to upload anything. Can you please advise on some possible solutions to this problem.239Views0likes5CommentsI've set passwords for my shared links, but non team members don't get asked for one.
I have set passwords on folders I need to share with people who are not team members. (added a password to editing dan viewing links and saved it) When I test this it by sending the link to an email address not part of the team it does not ask for a password. Any suggestions?Solved7.9KViews0likes17CommentsCannot ask for support / disable download option on a link with Dropbox Essentials
When I log into my account (Essentials) Chatbot can't help me since he says I do not have a paying account, I do. The main reason I wanted to ask for help was that I can't deactivate the download option in links I send to other people (this option is grey, I cannot click it.Can I receive files through a file request but not see the names of the submitters?
Hi, when using File Request with external users, I have to make sure that each uploaded file remains anonymous to me. I'll use File Request to collect 360° feedbacks about managers, and the participants need to be sure I won't be able to retrieve the identity of the senders. Is it possible ? I have a set of folders which were shared with me. The owner gave me edit permissions, and tried to give me all possible permissions - but I cannot edit or rename or change any of the files. From the Dropbox web interface, asking permissions, it shows two things - 1) You don't have permission to manage the membership of this file, 2) (my email ID) = can edit So it seems like I should be able to edit or rename the file(s), but I cannot. The original (sharing) owner is also shown. But - Trying to rename one of the files on Windows from the explorer interface fails; "You need permission from myComputer\myName to perform this action" But, that is who I am logged in as, and it has admin privileges. Same for trying to duplicate it in place or create a new file there; "Destination Folder access denied, you need permission to perform this action." I can read or open or copy the file to any other place outside of the shared hierarchy. Asking Windows about permissions on the file, it shows I so have full permissions. Asking about my specific user ID (as above) for effective permissions: It does show I can read files and change permissions, take ownership, and read and write attributes, but not create files or write data (?) What permissions do the owner who is sharing it with me need to set, and how? (I could not get insert image to work here...)Solved2.2KViews0likes21Comments
