Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.49Views0likes5CommentsDoes Dropbox have location-based sharing restrictions?
Hi, I’ve embedded a Dropbox shared folder into my application and enabled the "Anyone with the link" option for both viewing and editing permissions. However, it’s been noticed that several users are unable to access the training files (shared folder). Specifically: For the "Team India Production" team, some members have access to the folder, while others do not. Similarly, this issue seems to be affecting members of the US team as well. This has led me to wonder if there are any implicit access restrictions in place—such as location-based permissions—or other factors affecting access. I want to give permission for all staffs I’d like to know: Does Dropbox have any location-based restrictions or region-specific permissions that could explain this issue? Are there any known solutions to ensure consistent access for all users, regardless of their location? Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!60Views0likes3CommentsOne of my shared links can't be accessed without logging in to Dropbox first.
Hello, I recently uploaded a .mov file into my new dropbox. I copied a link and made sure in the permissions that anyone with the link could view the video. I made sure it worked by opening the link in incognito and on another friend's device. The link worked as intended. However, today, the link says you need to sign in to protect the file. After signing in on a different account, it says you need to request permission to view the file. If I copy the "sharable link" on my original account again, this link works. But I need the older link that worked yesterday, under the SAME permissions, to work and allow anyone with it to view the file. Has anyone had a similar issue?Solved71Views0likes6CommentsHow can we restrict who can share to groups?
I'm currently facing an issue where certain users in our Dropbox environment have the ability to share things in Team folders that they have access to. While the sharing feature works great for sharing with specific other employees, sometimes people share to the Everyone At group where it results in hundreds of employees receiving email notifications that something has been shared with them. It is usually immediately unshared, but then that just creates a lot of confusion. For some context, we are in the process of migrating from local shared folders to Dropbox, and all groups other than the Everyone At group are IT-managed through AD sync. We would also like to keep the Everyone At group of possible for us to share out any documents to all employees if needed. Is there a way to restrict a users ability to see groups, or to restrict their ability to share to them?18Views0likes1CommentFamily Room - cannot customize sharing settings
Hi, I have a family plan and I'm the admin. That plan makes available to every member a shared folder "Archivio Famiglia" that stands for "Family Room" I guess. My need is to setup customized credentials to my family members, for instance, I want to give view or edit access to specific folder only. Looking at the documentation Dropbox states that it's possible to set credentials in every sub-folder.. but I don't see (from web UI) any option in menu.61Views0likes5CommentsHow can I restrict access to specific folders for specific team members?
I just set-up a Teams folder and thought it would be the solution for file sharing our engineering documents. Unfortunately the primary reason I thought Teams would work is for limiting permissions to specific folders. I don't want contractors having access to our entire suite of engineering projects. It seems ALL subfolders share the the same permission as the top level. So USELESS. i still have to share individual folders to restrict access. Same as regular dropbox. this MUST BE FIXED or Teams is useless.Solved410Views0likes6CommentsI shared files with edit rights, but the recipients can't edit them.
Hello! I have shared files with 2 members and gave them editing access. They can open dropbox on their end and see the file but cannot edit. One user was able to open a file in another window and make edits but they did not appear in the shared file. We have a family plan if that matters. I'm an admin for our work dropbox folder. I have changed the permissions in my settings so that anyone who is an editor can share an invite for another editor. However, when my colleagues have done this, the person who receives the invite can only view the folder. They are unable to upload anything. Can you please advise on some possible solutions to this problem.249Views0likes5Comments
