Hello, I haven't login my dropbox account (not this account asking the question, but the other account) for a long time, and when I try to login it requires the 6-digits code sent to my email address, however, my email address has expired, because I left my previous institute. So my situation can be summarized in the following: 1. email address linked to the account is not accessible, by no chance it can be recovered. 2. I have no device with the account login 3. I have the password for my dropbox account What can I do to recover my account? BTW, I am still paying for the professional plan!!Solved9.3KViews0likes30CommentsPassword was hacked
Ok, here is my story - looking for info and/or advice. My Xfinity email account has been hacked several times over the past year. The last time (5 months ago) and yesterday, the hackers were able to use the email account to gain access to my Dropbox account. Last time, I enabled 2-factor security in Dropbox with both a mobile authenticator app and physical security keys. Yesterday, my Dropbox password was hacked and changed... I knew it was happening because I was aware that my email was being hacked and was literally dealing with it as it was happening. I realized that my Dropbox password was changed and I immediately changed it again. I WAS asked for 2-factor verification using the mobile app. I might have been asked for the security key, too - I don't remember exactly as I was dealing with several things at once. Point is that I WAS asked for something 2-factor to authenticate and allow the password change to occur. What I find troubling is that "they" were able to change the password/gain access to my account with 2-factor in place... Isn't that the whole point of having 2-factor? A physical "key" which you must be in possession of in order to make certain changes to the account??? I chatted with Luis in Customer Support - absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER - basically stated "no idea how that happened" and said that the problem was probably my computer's security or that I had used public wifi... Public wifi never happened. I pressed him to escalate the case or forward it to a security team (does that even exist??). He asked to move the chat to email - I suspect as a way to get rid of me.. Any info / advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.6.5KViews0likes5CommentsRegulate access to folders
We are a small society with a board, secretariat and several committees . We have a business Dropbox account with 4 team members. What we need: Multiple folders that are owned by Admin. Access to these folders upon invitation (but not through a link) by coworkers and people outside of de Dropbox Team. Some people should have edit rights, most should have viewing rights. Current status: folders are owned by Admin. Admin made folders inside the Team Folder. Team members were denied access (because I do not want all of them to have access) and I invited a Team member and people outside Dropbox team, some with edit and some with viewing rights. That is how I want it, but making it so seems to have messed with 1 Team member’s access both to Team folder as with a folder it owns itself. Can this be caused by how I organized things or not? Dropbox chat suggests I use groups to grant access to folders. Is this necessary/better? I don’t think I can give some group members edit and others viewing rights? I am questioning how many team members I need. Maybe 1 is enough, or just a second as backup?Solved6.2KViews1like3CommentsRestrict an Admin User's access of some files and folders
We have a Dropbox Standard account at work and we have countless files and folders in the root of our team folder giving "Everyone at..." full access to the data. We have 3 Team Admins and we would like to restrict certain folders from one of those Admins. Our only option appears to be removing "everyone at..." from the files. Is there an easy way for us to "deselect" some of the files and folders from this Admin or do we have to set up separate groups? One with the 3 Admins and one without said Admin? I would appreciate any help I can get with this, thank you!Solved4.2KViews0likes2CommentsMy Dropbox Account has been suspended and my team cannot access to my shared folder
Dear Dropbox Community, I am writing to seek assistance regarding the suspension of my Dropbox account. Recently, my Dropbox administrator suspended my account, resulting in all the files that I have created becoming unavailable on any computer. Moreover, many of these files are shared folders that are inaccessible to my team members due to my suspension. Unfortunately, my Dropbox administrator has poor expertise in managing Dropbox, and I am unable to make her understand the situation, and she said that I deleted all the shared folder. Hence, I am hoping to access any documentation or support that could assist me in demonstrating to my superiors what actually happened. Could you please advise me on how to proceed? I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank you for your time and consideration. I have had a problem logging into my Dropbox accounts in the last couple of weeks. Every time I try to login, the login page flashes up briefly and then I get the dreaded 404 page. I have tried logging in from different browsers and repetitively trying to login from the list on the 404 page, but often nothing but closing the browser down and re-opening it works. I didn't have that problem before so I don't understand why I have it now.3.6KViews0likes18CommentsDropbox Finder Extensions + macOS Ventura + File Provider Upgrade
Fresh Mac, upgraded Dropbox to the new File Provider setup. In macOS settings/Privacy & Security/Extensions/Added Extensions, there are two extensions under Dropbox: Finder Extensions (off) and Sharing (on). What does Finder Extensions do? Is this no longer necessary with File Provider upgrade? I have contextual menus still, so not sure anything is missing.Solved3.6KViews0likes3CommentsSomeone opened some old cryptocurrency files on my Dropbox, how?
Hello, As you can see from this screenshot, someone opened some files in my Dropbox, all these being old cryptocurrency wallets (there was nothing inside fortunately). If I check from the device log (settings-security-devices) I am the only one logged into Dropbox, from my desktop and from my Pixel phone. The last activity from my Pixel phone is set as 22h ago, same as the time these wallets have been opened. Now: I know for sure that I didn't open any of these files since I even forgot that I have them. And I don't have any cryptocurrency app on the phone that is connected with these wallets. How do I find out who and how they opened these files? PS: I have 2fa activated on Dropbox since many years. No one has physical access to wither my desktop nor my phone.Solved3.2KViews0likes12CommentsApr 20 2024 Team Folder / Personal Folder Update is affecting my workflow
RE https://help.dropbox.com/plans/upcoming-business-team-changes#beforechecklist This has created a HUGE NIGHTMARE!!! Have called into support and created several tickets to this but doesn't seem there's any urgency or response from the 'escalation team' 1. As an ADMIN I cannot see or manage ALL of the folders and files in our Dropbox account because of the Team and Personal Folders - So now I can't see what data is being duplicated and increasing our storage. 2. As an ADMIN I cannot move data from a Team Folder. Also cannot COPY data out of a Team Folder, can only move or copy into another Team Folder 3. Paths and mappings have been ruined to our local data and Synology NAS devices using Cloud Sync. - Now this requires us choking our bandwidth for days/weeks so that we can restore our local data.2.8KViews1like8CommentsA Photographers question on Ai Image Analysis & Ai Data Collection,- Concent, Rights & Implicaions
As a photographer is use Dropbox to transmit, store and handle my files. lately when running a search for the word "FIRE", the search function returned multiple pictures from my archive with flames in them. Question 1: has my Photography Archive been subject to Ai image analysis? (which it obviously has been...) - what kind? - by what tools? and most importantly, where did i concent to any of it? (yes i read the 'Legal' page thoroughly) disclaimer: as an event photographer i am involved in all kinds of Private, Open & Deeply personal moments from peoples lives, i have an Etheic Moral and Legal duty to protect my clients, partners, models, childrens & friends privacy, dignity and basic right not to have their likeness and very life be used to feed some data set somewhere withiout their knowlege and concent. i use Generative Ai tools as part of my personal and professional creative research, i see the potential, but am also aware of the possible implications. Question 2: has my Phototography Archive (my body of work) been compromised, sold, copied or in any other way transfered to any third party without my concent? i think you get where im going with this.... am i doomed to have my stuff be fed to the Ai data machine by simply having it on the internet? i am only asking because i am already extremely doubtfull of my future as an Artist and Creative Professional. i love Dropbox a lot and use it all the time and recommend it to everyone, i really hope i don't soon grow to regret it... would love to hear your thoughts. ~T187.Solved2.7KViews1like4Comments
