Hello Community, This may not be the right category, but there was nothing that matched my issue. I have a friend that is getting messages from Dropbox that she needs to upgrade her payment plan as I shared some files with her. She has no need for those files any longer, but they still come up in her Dropbox link in her computer. We shared those files more than 10 years back! I deleted the files in her Dropbox account, but they still keep showing up in her computer. I was the "owner" of this account and shared it with her and her husband. I assumed I needed to sign into my old account and delete the files and sharing options and then delete the account. I am unable to do so as that account is associated with a very old email address that no longer exists. The Internet provider company folded years ago! I no longer have access to that email account! I do know the email address, and the password for that account, but I get a prompt that Dropbox sent a code to that email address and I have to enter that code in order to sign in. So I am unable to sign in and delete that account. I also cannot get support from Dropbox as their only solution is to use the email address and password, which should let me sign into the account, but it does not due to the code, and then change anything in my Dropbox account. I hope this makes sense and I wonder if any one of you is having similar issues. Thank you!Solved1.3KViews0likes4CommentsCan’t seem to physically move files from Dropbox to iPad, and then delete them from DropBox
After getting an email that I am exceeding my DropBox quota limit, I attempted a few things to move just one of my DropBox files to my iPad. Something seemed to happen in only one of those attempts that resulted in the file showing up on both my iPad and DropBox. I think it may have been when I tried something like moving the file offline?! Drag&drop didn’t seem to work at all (integration stickler?!) The copy of my file that appears on my iPad seems as if it is just a link to the DropBox file, not the original file itself. I was also expecting the file in DropBox to disappear automatically after the move, but it’s still there and I can’t seem to delete it from DropBox. What is confusing the whole process for me is the integration that makes it very difficult to know which folder in DropBox’s folder menu actually contains my original file?! Forum posts I’ve read instruct me to open the DropBox folder and select the file I want to move. But there are afew other folders there too, such as iPad, OneDrive, Microsoft, etc., and the file I want to move pops up in more than one of those folders (I’m guessing due to integration!); eg,DropBox is preventing my Excel app from opening any of my spreadsheet files stored on DropBox from within my Excel app ?!? The 30 day-time limit (or else you will delete my DropBox files!) is a looming crisis for me with most of my upcoming income tax and security related docs still stored in the parts of my DropBox account that I can’t seem to access my originals any more. I can’t understand this particular, almost heavy-handed approach by DropBox that really hits hard the non-business customer community that DropBox has enticed over the past few years. I also can’t understand how my storage use got to more than double my quota without DropBox letting me know (one forum post I saw only provided links to a couple old, obscure Knowledge doc about a particular customer problem - how casual users are supposed to be on top of all that documentation is beyond me).I’m just a casual, residential user whose needs don’t even come close to your 2000 Gb upgrade to the 2000 Gb (2Tb). Nor can I afford such a large upgrade - why not a cheaper 500 Gb or 1000 Gb upgrade? Please advise how I can downloadmy files on DropBox to my iPad’s (and/or my iMac’s) internal storage, and subsequently delete them from DropBox in order to get back below my DropBox quota limit ASAP? I have some Dbox directories/files that were shared from another user. I don't need them anymore, but I'm afraid if I delete the folder, it will delete files from everywhere. There doesn't seem to be a way to find ownership of files except by trying to move or remove a file. Do these shared files occupy space on my local disk?721Views0likes4CommentsHelping A Friend Get Organized
I have a friend who wants me to help him organize his DropBox folders. So if he sends me a link to them can I join the 2TB for just a month and help him and then drop out? If I drop out will his files still remain organized so all he has to do is maintain them? I don't want him to lose anything by me dropping out after a month or so. I don't need a permanent 2TB account, so I will only pay for it as long as I need to. Is this correct?324Views0likes1CommentWhat happens when I delete files and folders?
Hi, I have a lot of files and folders on backed up on 2 computers. If I delete a folder on one computer, will it still be both in the cloud and on the other computer? I need to free up some hard drive space on one of the computers. Thank you4.2KViews0likes23Comments
