Shared Folders
497 TopicsHow to Leave a Shared Folder
I'm relatively new to DropBox, and I'm using DropBox Basic, with no interest in upgrading to Pro at this time. A client has shared a folder with me that includes many subfolders, and I have just reached my space limit. I'd like to leave some of those subfolders to open up some space. Is this possible, and how do I do it? Is the only solution to leave that top-level folder? If so, will that interfere with the client's ability to share with me more subfolders of that top-level share in future? I need to be able to let the client share new subfolders, while I drop older subfolders to maintain a reasonable amount of space. Thanks!Solved185KViews1like12CommentsAre people notified when they are removed from sharing a folder?
I have a folder that I shared over the years that I would like to UNshare, but don't want the other person to know, or, at the very least, be sent an email informing them they are no longer authorized to access the shared Dropbox folder. Case in point, I have a folder I created for a client where the two partners both had access but now one has been bought out in the aftermath of a big hairy battle. I really need to remove the former partner. My question is, Will persons I "unshare" with be notified by email or pop-up notification that they are no longer linked to a folder, or does Dropbox simply make that space available to their quota and nothing is ever said?Solved70KViews3likes5CommentsHow do I leave a shared Dropbox folder?
My friend invited me to share a 3gb folder she had. I accepted. Now I want to leave the folder and cant. I followed the advice from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZoTpNkvPCI The problem is that no folders appear under 'Sharing' in my Dropbox so I cant remove myself. I also looked for other ways to leave the folder but see no option to remove myself. Any ideas on how? ThanksSolved60KViews4likes76CommentsWhere can I see a list of my shared folders?
It used to be that I could see my list of shared folders on the main page when signing in to Dropbox. I needed that to track what I have shared and to unshare when a project is complete. I can no longer find that list. All I see is a list of shared files that I can add to Dropbox. They are all very old. I don't know what that means. Where is the list of current shared folders? Thanks!Solved27KViews3likes27CommentsCan't see files in shared folder.
I'm using a shared folder that someone else created. They are providing me files through it. They are saying they uploaded files and see a green checkmark but I don't see the file on my end. It worked with one of their files, but all the others are not visible to me . . . why might this be?27KViews0likes20CommentsYou can't share a folder that contains a shared folder - BUT I AM NOT!
Really confused! I need to give access to someone to collaborate but when I try to do this it says 'You can't share a folder that contains a shared folder' and only gives me the option to send them the link (which I have but it is not ideal). I feel sure that I have not previously shared any of the sub-folders and when I click on the sharing option at the side it does not show that any of these folders haver been shared. How can I solve this so I can share the folders inside. It is folders containing audio recordings from an App we have purchased called ALON Dictaphone. Would really appreciate advice to solve this. Why are files shared with me counted against my space usage? Is this data counted twice? If someone who is sharing files with me is paying for this space, why should I have to pay as well just to access it? I am out of space, I have no intention of buying more space, and yet, when someone shares some files with me, I cannot access them and I am forced to buy space in order to access them. Why is this? Thank you.Solved25KViews4likes143CommentsDo members of a shared folder get a notification that a file has been added?
I've shared a dropbox folder with 12 other people. If I upload a file to the folder, do I have to email everyone I shared the folder with or do they get a notification that a file has been added to the folder?Solved22KViews3likes12CommentsHow do I resend the invitation to a shared folder (non business account)
If I search in the forum or on google for "how to resend a dropbox invitation to a shared folder" I find an answer for business accounts, but I just have a normal individual pro account. I shared a folder with about 10 people months ago. 4 joined, and 6 didn't. How do I resend the invite to the 6 people so that I am sure they have a recent invite in their email inbox?19KViews1like19Comments
