A friend and I share mp3 files through dropbox though I use dropbox.cm and he uses dl.dropboxusercontent.com. The link I send him looks and behaves differently than the one he sends me. He gets a button to download the file while his link opens Windows Media Player and I must go through a few more steps to download the file. This is non-copyrighted material, by the way. The only way to get his link when clicked is to add a suffix with the characters - ?dl=0 to the end of the link. What gives with this?Solved187KViews10likes22CommentsShared Link / "scl" to "s"
Hello. My question concerns my recent issue with file sharing. Usually, my links were generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/s/'. However, lately, every file is being generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/'. Do you know a way to restore the old way of generating links? I just need old way of links, because game can't read new links Greet 😛Solved92KViews14likes211CommentsWhen forcing a PDF to preview in a browser, it only shows the first page
Hi! I'm running into an issue when previewing a pdf file in dropbox only shows the first page of the file (picture below for reference). I use the "raw=1" extension at the end of the file, and so far that's worked well. Now out of the blue, it seems to only display the first page of the file. Is there any way of fixing this, or possibly use a different file extension to use to preview the file? We send this file out to many potential clients so it needs to work easily on mobile and desktop browsers. I'd use "dl=1" except that really doesn't work at all on phones. Thanks! Yesterday I uploaded a movie file to Dropbox for some friends to download. Immediately after, I decided to check from a browser that wasn't logged in, to see what it would look like for them if they didn't have a Dropbox account. I was shocked to discover, under “Activity”: “Patricia Johnson downloaded this file” and “Anthony Abate viewed this file” (neither name recognised by me): So, then I logged in to investigate, but only saw “Traffic and insights: See who’s visiting... Upgrade to Dropbox Professional to start tracking.”: Surely this isn’t a scare tactic to get me to upgrade to a paid account, is it??Solved33KViews1like12CommentsHow to Workaround "Zip File is Too Large" Error
I'm sharing a multitude of large files with colleagues via a Dropbox link that are nearly 120GB in size. However, they're telling me Dropbox doesn't allow them to download it due to an error saying the "zip file is too large". Confused, I tried the link on an incognito browser to see for myself, and I see the error too. Why is there a download file size limitation? My colleagues don't have Dropbox accounts of their own to transfer these files to (and I doubt they'd be willing to to make paid accounts to do it), and I'm not giving my account login info to them (as a few threads on this issue suggested) to be able to download it via the Desktop app. I saw in a thread made a few years ago that Dropbox is easily capable of raising the file size download limit. They did it some months after someone complained about there being a 1 Gigabyte download size limit. Why don't they raise the download size limit much higher?(Or better yet, not have a limit at all?) I'm a paying customer, and the very reason I subscribed to Dropbox in the first place was to have a cloud service to store and share large files with people. If I wanted to deal with sharing smaller file sizes, I wouldn't even be paying for Dropbox's 2TB plan to begin with. I'd be using the Dropbox free version, or sites like Google Drive.27KViews6likes8CommentsDownloading from a shared link from Patreon gives me an error screen
I am attempting to download a file over a link from patreon. I click the link and its supposed to go to a dropbox screen where i can download the file. I click the link and i get an error screen with your annoying dog. wich only serves to make it more frustrating. nobody else is having that problem with the link so it is clearly not the link at fault.Solved23KViews0likes10Comments"That didn't work for some reason" error
I was sent ym first dropbox video link in my email. When I click on it it goes to Dropbox and says..." That didn't work for some reason. If it's a fluke refresh the page..." Upon refreshing all it does is repeat this error message. Any smart peeps out there that know what's happening? Thanks for any help you can provide!22KViews0likes42CommentsThis file cannot be previewed because you are offline
Hi, Since a while, I see this message when trying to view a dropbox link shared by others. I get this on Chrome, on Firefox and on Safari, so this is not a browser specific issue. Here's one example link where I get this problem. Even clicking download doesn't do anything. This thread on the forum seems to be related to my issue, but the problem seems to always get solved in direct communication with the customer, and no solutions are posted on the forum. When I Google this error message, there are no results, and neither is there any explanation of this specific error message on the dropbox site. Kind regards, Tim17KViews2likes45Comments
