Hello team, When I click on the 'share' button on a folder to generate a link, and then view the link, I can't view the database properly. This persists on all browsers, and devices including mobile. Find attached an image.Solved71Views2likes8CommentsI can't access files shared with me by others via links
I have my own dropbox but independently, for work things, I been given access to files and folders in various other people's dropboxes recently but for some reason I get an error msg and can't access them. These are open files to everyone and it is not just one time / company - it's happening with courses I have paid for, with press media files that are available just generally, people who send me general links to files - I always get this error: Error Something went wrong. Don’t worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check ourStatus Pageto see if there is a known incident, ourhelp centreandforumsfor help, or go back tohome. I have checked the installer, checked my own dropbox syncs etc. My own files are fine and so I can't see the issue. It has happened without about 5 different companies giving me access - that I can't see the files - which are open to the general public if you have been sent the link. What can I do?76Views0likes4CommentsVideo preview from shared link freezing in Chrome but not in Safari
Hi Dropbox Community, I’m experiencing an issue with video playback on a Dropbox-shared link in Chrome. Here’s what’s happening: When I open the link in Chrome, the video plays but intermittently freezes in the middle. However, when I view the same video link in Safari, it plays smoothly without any interruptions. My internet connection is fast, so I don’t think it’s a connectivity issue. I’ve tried disabling Chrome extensions, clearing my cache, and even adjusting hardware acceleration, but the issue persists in Chrome specifically. here's the format of my link: [removed] Has anyone else encountered this issue with Dropbox videos on Chrome, or is there any recommended solution?21Views0likes1CommentShared link asks viewers to request access. Why does this happen?
Greetings. I have a shared file set to be viewable by anyone with the link, and I've sent the link to those I want to view the file (see screenshot). However, when they access the link, Dropbox states they "do not have access to this file" and offers the option to request access, which I must individually approve. I have other files configured with these same settings, and those with whom I've shared those links can access them without any separate approval. I don't know why this particular file is different. Am I missing something?Solved16KViews3likes66CommentsUX feedback about "Join Folder" button when clicking on a shared link
As I share links (created via OS folder view) to customers, i have had several of them clicking "Join Folder" as they think that is the priority way of dealing with the link they received. My purpose has been to share a link that multiple users can access - if I have the need to give full read/write access to a user (aka "join folder") - I would give that permission in the first place. This leads to two questions: 1) Why is the "Join Folder" -button so highlighted when user enters via normal link, instead of it being either "copy to dropbox" or "download"? (buttons shown to users could be filtered based on the link user uses to access the folder). 2) Would the "Join Folder" button be even needed IF the link shared is created with a method "who ever has this link can read the files and copy them"? This leads to a conclusion, that maybe Dropbox should filter the buttons out based on the link user uses to access the folder. Why this error happens on a user: To me understanding, it happens because a) the button is highlighted blue and they just click it by heart without reading what the buttons actually state, or 2) they do not understand what "join folder" means - as it really does not indicate in any way, that user is actually requesting full read/write access to a folder, 3) or both reasons -> they do not understand the button text and believe it is the right one as it is highlighted. If the button must exist, I would 1) change the button order and put it to be the last option, 2) rename it to (something like): - Request Ownership - Full Access - Authorize Now it just reminds too much of "joining the folder to see the files".2.1KViews2likes13CommentsThe shared link I sent out truncates the names of files included. Can I adjust the name column?
I’m trying to share a collection of files with non Dropbox users by sending them a link. The files have long names. When the recipients click on the link they get a list of files with very shortened names, such that they cannot tell at a glance which file is which. On the other hand the column showing the size of the files is much wider than needed. Is there any way to give more space to the names of the files? Also, why is the file order seen by the recipients not the same as the order I see in my own Dropbox folder?23Views0likes4CommentsBanned for files containing malware
Hello there, I recently got banned for sharing links with malware, however I know for a fact that the files I'm trying to share do not have malware in them. They are accessibility enhancements for people with vision impairments attempting to utilise digital audio workstation software. I've been banned for high traffic before, but not once have I purposefully attempted to share malware. As a user of a free Dropbox account, I can't email Dropbox or open a ticket so how can I get some assistance with this? I'd greatly appreciate any help. Have a great day TIASolved1.1KViews0likes20CommentsCan I password protect folders while on a Family plan?
I have created a link for viewing and other than "who has access" all other toggles are greyed out. I have the Family plan https://www.dropbox.com/family and unfortunately, I cannot find anything that specifically tells me whether this option is allowed or not. I thought there was an option for securing files. When I go here: https://help.dropbox.com/share/set-link-permissions I can see plans like "Standard" have this option, but then when I go to compare planshttps://www.dropbox.com/plans neither the "standard" nor "family plan" is listed for me to even see what options are included in these plans. Can someone please tell me how I find out exactly what is included in what plan?Solved89Views0likes2CommentsMy sharing got suspended
Error in call to API function /2/sharing/create_shared_link_with_settings: We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement. Could someone please show me how to rectify this issue? -When I click through to support it says support is no available with my plan -When I review the list of violations I don't believe I'm in breach of any of them -I can't see anywhere to accept any new terms of service Thanks in advance! 🙂89Views0likes2Comments
