Shared Links
971 TopicsShared link asks viewers to request access. Why does this happen?
Greetings. I have a shared file set to be viewable by anyone with the link, and I've sent the link to those I want to view the file (see screenshot). However, when they access the link, Dropbox states they "do not have access to this file" and offers the option to request access, which I must individually approve. I have other files configured with these same settings, and those with whom I've shared those links can access them without any separate approval. I don't know why this particular file is different. Am I missing something?Solved16KViews3likes79CommentsHow can I prevent other users from downloading an eBook?
I'm selling an eBook that customers will download from a link received in their email. I only want the customers who paid for the eBook to be able to download it. I don't want an unscrupulous person to forward the email (and, thus, the link) to anyone who has not paid me to receive it. Is there any way to ensure that behind the scenes with Dropbox? I have read that there are options for an expiration of the link, but I don't want to have to change the link constantly - plus, I won't know when someone is buying the eBook to go in and update the link for that purpose. Any help/ideas you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Mark9Views0likes1CommentMy Excel updates are missing and, after sharing a link, it redirects users to the wrong folder.
24hrs ago i was working on my excel sheet which i saved. I created a new folder also and moved some documents in the folder. 24hrs later. i go on another of my devices and those new documents and last version of my excel sheet is nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, my dropbox icon shows i am up to date!! The worst that happened an hour ago, i created a link to a new folder that had documents to share to a group and the group members instead are having access to another folder totally not related! Everything is looking like its a film trick going on! Kindly inform if there is an ongoing issue?47Views1like1CommentMake downloading from shared link less complicated and more streamline.
It's just incredibly hard for common folks to download their files. You confuse things by making them accept all..... offering them app or web browser download...... Then you ask are they sure they want to leave page. I give out 30-40 links a month and have to explain how to download to almost every single client. I have several photographer friends and they all say same thing."""""""""375Views0likes3CommentsCan I send a link that'll open up to a local file instead of the website?
Hi all Is there a way to send a local link to a Dropbox file? My wife and I use the same Dropbox account to share files. If I want to call her attention to a file, I can send a regular Dropbox link, but it'll open up a browser and show her the file at dropbox.com, when I know full well the file is available to her on her local Dropbox folder. It would just save me saying "hey there's a file in dropbox, it's in the X folder, subfolder Y, it's called blah blah". Both using Macs. thanks!30Views0likes1CommentDownloading from a shared link from Patreon gives me an error screen
Hello, I am currently using the free version of Dropbox, and I would like to confirm if shared links to uploaded folders still do not have an expiration date by default. I understand that with the Dropbox Professional or Business plans, it is possible to set an expiration date for shared links. However, I would like to know if, on the free plan, my shared links will remain active indefinitely unless I manually delete or remove them. Thank you!42Views0likes3Commentslink generates error (400), but copy-paste works
I have sent an email containing a view-only link to a folder that I own. When a recipient clicks the link, they get error (400) but if they copy and paste the link into their browser, the link takes them to the folder. I've never had this problem before. This is a regular folder (i.e. I'm not a Teams user). The total size of the files in the folder is about 700KB.Solved39Views0likes3Comments
