Storage space
22 TopicsAllow a personal account to have more than 3 TB
Hello, I'm a graphic designer with over 15 years of workload. This obviously equates to extreme files sizes. I was disappointed to learn Dropbox don't offer a package for single users over 3TB. I work solely and require more cloud space and don't want to have to upgrade to a 'per user' plan as this isn't cost effective. This option has to become available soon.56KViews153likes190CommentsI'd love to see a an individual quota add-on for plans.
10€/ month is a total no go for me. and by the way I do not need 1TB. at least not now. But give me 1/10 for 1/10 and I would sign up in a heartbeat. The argument that they lost money because people downgraded. In my view that just emphasize that the pricing scheme is wrong. Some people have bought in for 1TB because that is the only next step. That also indicates that some of the paying subscribers are paying for something the really do not need but had no other option. That is not a good way to treat your customers. Because this means that the second somebody else comes with a better offer. Your customers are gone. and unhappy customers doesn't come back. Even if you try lowering the price at that point then it will be too little too late. I like dropbox have been using it for a long time now. But I am looking for alternatives simply because my cloud storage requirement is more than the 13GB I have now. but way below 1TB. I would really like an option where I can increase storage and price gradually as I need it. Cloud storage is a competitive space. It is about trust, price, availability and features. Microsoft, Google and Apple are on their way. So Dropbox you need to be more competitive or offer other features that people want to pay for. Right now I only use dropbox because of sharing. And I struggle with limited space and 10€ a month is not an option. I have cloud space with the three companies mentioned, but non of them are good or trustworthy enough yet. Every new release they send out they are getting closer. They all have someting that Dropbox does not have. An eco-system around their cloud. Dropbox try with photos. Well I find that feature annoying because it use the limited space I have. and I already have my photos elsewhere. Dropbox you need to come up with something or I believe you will loose the upcoming battle. You have a lot of customers now because you where among the first. Well surprise first is not enough anymore.15KViews1like38CommentsOffer a 'Cold Storage' option at a lower rate with restricted access to match
Cold Storage - I would love to see an add on to the pro accounts to allow us to move active footage off the active content and into cold storage billed as a lower rate and accessed accordingly - if this could be connected with our current drop box account it means simple move or even simply selecting a button to turn a file cold while leaving it in the same files structure - not unlike what you have going on the desktop application with cloud, tentatively online and permanently online - you could also have a frozen state - maybe it takes several days to access the footage once frozen but it would use space in my current service at a lower level. OR connect with a 3rd party program to offer this - from google searches it looks like you were offering this but now are not..243Views0likes2CommentsCommand line code to switch between "Allow offline access" and "Online only" instead of mouse clicks
It would be nice to be able to switch between "allow offline access" and "online only" on the command line instead of using the mouse. For example, "% dropbox -offline_accsess true file1,file2,file3...", "% dropbox -offline_accsess false file1,file2,file3..." Once this is done, it is possible to treat files from the application in much the same way as if they were stored locally, while saving disk space by making them "online only".561Views1like4CommentsI need an affordable Family plan with decent storage.
I have a familiy with five members. Everybody has a Dropbox account. It is no option to pay for 5 pro accounts. Even one pro account is too costly. What I need is a affordable service for my family with a reasonable amount of storage. $100 for 1TB is "double" too much. We love the service, but there are other (in home) options. It's time to change....16KViews15likes17Comments
