The problem I have is that Dropbox seems to crash when running on an iPAD via the apple files app. If I open an application that uses the files app, such as Pages or Final Draft, when saving to the Dropbox via the files app, it crashes the app and for the next 4 to 5 minutes if I click on drop box via the files app it just doesn’t load. Apple has confirmed this is a Dropbox issue (I raised it with them first), and I have not been able to crash the application(s) using Google Drive via files in the same way. Can anyone help?Solved18KViews4likes155CommentsWhy So Much Telemetry ?
Hi All, My Pi Hole is blocking an INCREDIBLE amount of DropBox telemetry, even more than Windows telemetry, and by a large margin. So I have a few questions. 1. What is this telemetry for ? 2. What information is in there ? 3. Who gets to see it (ie, is it shared in any way with, let's say, advertisers) 4. Why is it being blocked by my standard Pi Hole list, what threat could it be ? 5. Where do I turn it off if I wish to ? Cheers, Threlly28KViews4likes53CommentsInDesign will freeze if we try to open files that are online-only
Please note that we have a Dropbox shared among multiple employees. Since yesterday, we've encountered the following issue: Whenever we try to open any files, such as InDesign or Photoshop files, through Dropbox that have a cloud status, the application freezes. To work around this, we need to right-click on the file in Dropbox, select "Save Offline," and then open it in InDesign through Dropbox. This problem did not occur before. If we don't save the file offline first in Dropbox, InDesign will freeze until we quit Dropbox, reopen it, save the file offline, and then open it again through Dropbox to work on it. For example, if we click on one of these items that has a transparent X to open files from Dropbox in InDesign, InDesign will freeze first like in img1: img1 second dropbox freeze also, for example if you right click on any dropbox file , no option to save the file offline or online .... like img2 : img2 the only solution is first to quit the dropbox then open it again when dropbox became like img3 : img3 thenmake the file you want to open through InDesign, Photoshop, or any other app available offline first. Then, you should be able to open it without any problems. Another problem we're encountering is with opening files from Dropbox in InDesign. The first time we open a file, it displays correctly with icons like in img3. However, the second time we open a file, it appears like img1, with the dark green icon missing and the cloud icon becoming a transparent X. To restore the correct display (like img3), we have to quit Dropbox and reopen it. Please address this issue as it affects multiple desktops and laptops used by six different users from various companies. Some of these users are on Windows 10, while others are on Windows 11. The problem started appearing yesterday.Solved6.9KViews3likes34CommentsFailing to send Rocketbook notes to Dropbox
I have a couple of Rocketbook notebooks and have been syncing since December with no issues until this past weekend. When I attempt to send my notes to any of the pre-set destinations within Dropbox I receive the error 'Failed to connect to Dropbox'. However, when I 'check' the destinations in the Rocketbook app, there are no issues with any of the Dropbox connections, they are all operational. I am also able to connect and change the destinations within the Rocketbook app to Dropbox and folders within my Dropbox with no issues, but when I attempt to send I am again given the error. I have even revoked the permissions to Rocketbook from within my Dropbox account and then re-engaged but still nothing. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or other ways to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance for the support!!Solved4.9KViews3likes18CommentsCan I install the desktop app in Raspberry Pi 4?
Hi, i'm trying to install dropbox in a raspberry pi 4 with raspbian lite (no X installed). The architecture (armhf) seems to not be supported (only debian, fedora, ubuntu with x86 32/64), I would like to use dropbox daemon to automatically sync my files using typical .dropbox-dist, as i do in other machines (ubuntu mainly). Is this possible on a raspberry pi ? I don't know if python projects could launch background jobs to sync files or if those tools are intended to be used on demand (download this, upload another thing, etc.). I tried pip3 install dropbox, as well as, apt-get install python3-dropbox. Not sure if they are same thing, and how to use. I have seen some projects like "github.com/andreafabrizi/Dropbox-Uploader.git" or "ExaGear Desktop", but this seems to miss that "dropbox daemon flavor" and i don't want X server (i prefer raspbian lite). Which would be the best approach ?Solved9.2KViews3likes4Comments"Enable Finder Integration"
I hope I'm asking in the right place. Did Dropbox do away with the "Enable Finder Integration" option? When it's *disabled* the image dimensions are displayed in the Finder with my pictures rather than "up to date"... That's what I want, to disable it. I don't want the big green check mark. I can't find the "Enable Finder Integration" option in preferences anymore.Solved14KViews3likes14CommentsDropbox issue with syncing to Synology after April 20 update
My synology NAS synchronized dropbox perfectly for years. After the April 20 update the synchronization caused mayhem on my NAS. Online all is well up to April 20 but no more synching of our work files after that. Now I found out yesterday that a warning email was sent that i never noticed, but how to solve it now? The dropbox has 4 team members and 5 top level folders, one of those folders was synched to the NAS for one team member. Now synching occurs to the private folder of that team member, synching hundreds of gigabytes for no reason since we have all that nfo already in the toplevel folder. We have had a business account for years, but now it is advanced(?!?) but more costly than the business? Apparently you need a business account to be able to sync. So I upgraded to business, but now dropbox tells me that will be implemented March 2025😳. Any suggestions, on how to get my system back up and running the way it was?Solved8.1KViews2likes6Comments"Authorized access token" expiring fast? (Allway Sync problem)
Hello everyone, I'm using a third party software (Allway Sync) to sync files with my dropbox. Since a couple weeks I have the problem that the app loses access to the Dropbox and I need to obtain a new Authorized Access Token at least once a day. Is this a new "feature" for increased security? For me at least it's an inconvience as I have to to take action every day to have my files synced "automatically". I already tried to delete the Allway Sync app from the list of connected apps on the dropbox website and added it again but that didn't resolve the issue. Thanks for helping!Solved2.3KViews2likes7CommentsGetting notifications about online-only files, with Google Drive/OneDrive active
I have a regular DropBox account that I've been using for many years. This afternoon, it suddenly started giving my this very same notification every 30 seconds or so. It doesn't tell me which files it's having trouble with - just, "These files are online-only." When I click on the notification, it goes away, but it continues the incessant beeping. How do I get this to stop?!7.7KViews1like58CommentsWhy can't I access Dropbox Backup on the mobile app?
Hello, In the older version of Dropbox - Mac Folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads were automatically uploaded into Dropbox and accessible via the Mobile App. Now you can only Backup these folders and access them via the web here -https://www.dropbox.com/backup/all This isn't streamlined at all - I really suggest and hope that you return to the previous version where these Mac folders were automatically included in Dropbox and accessible by the Mobile App.665Views1like2Comments
