Stay organized and save time with new folder automation updates
Hey Dropbox Community! We are so excited to introduce new enhancements to the folder automation features to help you stay organized. We’re introducing multiple step automations (up to five), including within subfolders. Now, you can configure multiple automations on selected folders and subfolders to automatically convert uploaded files to PDFs, rename files, add watermarks, and more. Get started by selecting “+Create” under the search bar, then select “Folder,” and finally select “Automated folder.” Tell us about your experience with Dropbox's Folder Automation Features in the comments below! How can I turn off automations on a folder?
I set up my new Folder with automated conversion to MP4 because I thought I would need that format. However, I do not. I have been unable to figure out how to turn it off for that Folder. on my PC--I set it up on my iPhone originally. When I go to Settings and Automations on the right side of my PC and Delete the conversion step, I get the attached screen, which does not allow me to Save the change. So I must be doing something wrong.
Automation for renaming files doesn't work
I set up Dropbox automation to "When files are added to [main folder], Then rename them to [YYYY-MM-DD - example filename.pdf]". Then, I tried dragging multiple files from my computer into the folder, using Chrome and then trying it with Edge. In both cases, the files just kept their original names. I cleared by browser cache in Chrome, and then tried it in Edge. Nothing has worked. I have seen no difference since adding automation. I un-checked the box next to "Replace with existing dates detected in filenames" because I just want it to use the date of upload.
Can you create a destination file with automated tasks at the same time?
Hi. I am trying to set up a new folder where it is automated and when it asks for destination folder it dosnt allow me to create one? I have to go back and crate the folder and then set up the automated tasks? Also - it doesn't let you filter as to which folder it goes into except month or year?
Incorrect text format in transcript text file
"I've created automations in MAKE to generate transcriptions from audio recordings and to create summaries of audio conversations that appear on Dropbox. However, in MAKE, I don't have any configuration for the txt format in which the text is processed. When it's produced and uploaded to Dropbox, its format isn't compatible with Polish UTF-8 characters, lacking Polish characters, and the text is illegible. How can I change this format to introduce UTF-8?"Is there a way to set naming convention for all file requests?
Greetings! I noticed that there is an option to not include sender's name to the file for each file request, but since I create hundreds of file requests, it takes a long time to turn it off for each request. I wonder if there is an option to set the naming convention for all new file requests? That would make total sense, but I cannot find it. Thanks in advance.
Copy Dropbox link to Slack channel once files are finished uploading.
Step 1: Ideally I'd like to automate sharing a Dropbox link once the files are uploaded to a particular folder. Step 2: I'd like to share that link on Slack Step 3: I'd like to share it to a particular Slack channel/ board within an overall Slack channel. so I guess my question is, are any or some of these steps possible? I have Slack connected to my Dropbox and vice versa. But when you add a Slack channel it seems to just go to the Dropbox portion of the Slack channel. Like you can't paste that into a subfolder of the channel. Can I do that?
