I want to upload a file from my python script to my dropbox account automatically. I can't find anyway to do this with just a user/pass. Everything I see in the Dropbox SDK is related to an app having user interaction. I just want to do something like this: https://api-content.dropbox.com/1/files_put//?user=me&pass=blah28Views0likes1CommentFile requests: Option to edit both the name of requester and description
Hi all! It would be great if we had a rich text option when writing descriptions for our file requests. It would also be great if I could change the name that's sending the request so it can come from my client and not me personally. Here's an example where some line breaks and HTML markup would be super helpful!37Views0likes2CommentsPersistent issue: upload speeds are incredibly slow for years
Dropbox upload speeds are incredibly slow. Issue persists for years. Dropbox mods shut down discussions I have seen complaints from many people that Dropbox upload speeds are incredibly slow. Often less than 50 kBps. I have experienced this issue intermittently for years, but over the past 3 months it has become a daily problem. Many temporary fixes have been posted, but I have yet to see any permanent solution. Common to most reports is that this issue doesn't affect other cloud services, so it's clearly a problem with Dropbox and not with people's caches, system preferences, browsers, or ISPs. I can confirm this: when my Dropbox uploads slow to a crawl, my Google Drive upload speeds are 100x faster for same file. I have found that these steps will sometimes resolve the problem but it now recurs after a day or 2: 1. Quit dropbox app 2. plug ethernet cable into laptop 3. turn off laptop wifi 4. Restart modem & router 5. Restart dropbox app This temporary fix seems to last a bit longer: logging out of dropbox, uninstalling and reinstalling dropbox, then logging back in. But this results in a very lengthy re-indexing process, so it's not something I want to be doing on a regular basis. You can see a couple of the past discussions, starting 6 years ago: https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001014/ridiculously-slow-upload-speeds/395342 https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001014/upload-app-sync-speed-is-very-slow-on-macos-/801174 Despite being marked "solved" this is an ongoing issue. The OP of the second discussion requested that mods remove the "solved" flag, but they refused and subsequently blocked new comments in the discussion: https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001014/upload-app-sync-speed-is-very-slow-on-macos-/801174/replies/824433 Dropbox staff person Hannah has been involved in both these discussions so mods are definitely aware that this is an issue that has persisted for years. What's going on? For many years Dropbox was a great service, but it really seems like they're neglecting their core service. Is the only solution moving to a different cloud storage service?37Views0likes5CommentsI add files to the desktop app, but they're using disc space, and other members can't see them.
i have mapped dropbox to my laptop and upgrading files constantly using file explorer, but it seems to 'eat' my c drive space, and thus would like to unmap it, but did not find a way, pls advice as in point 1 telling i upgrade files using my laptop file explorer to the dropbox, have done that several times, no issues for the other members to be able to see those files, until recently, uploaded again a few, took the file name from the properties, and informed the subfolder location to the other members, but this time they were not able to see those files i had earlier upgraded to dropbox, any idea why? check the file access etc info, all was okSolved31Views0likes2CommentsAI driven organization of documents
As a Dropbox consumer user, I want to have my scanned documents automatically organized based on content. Use case: I have a ton of paper mail, as well as downloaded statements from credit cards. I want to scan all my paper mail using my Epson document scanner which drops the PDFs into a preselected folder in my Dropbox account. I want an AI to look at the documents (bills, statements, etc) and organize them into a folder structure that makes it easy to find them. The folder structure creation could be through a guided journey or a recommendation after uploading some minimum number of documents. Then, all subsequent mail I receive will automatically be placed into the correct folder upon scanning. Success criteria: uploaded documents are sorted into the correct folders Considerations: since there are sensitive documents being uploaded, the context for the AI agent must be kept to my account, or the data used to teach a common model must be depersonalized before use. GTM opportunity: partner with ADF scanner manufacturers currently supporting Dropbox. This service will easily support a Premium add on ~$15 a month.46Views2likes2CommentsHow do I stop Dropbox from uploading every single picture on my PC?
I use Dropbox on my computer to backup my work files which include my 3D renders that consist in a png sequence (one image per frame at 30 or 60fps), so I have thousands of png images related to renders but dropbox automatically adds them to the camera uploads in my phone app which is extremely annoying because I need to scroll down thousands of images to see my actual photos... if I delete them it deletes my render backup as well, it does the same thing for textures, which makes my photo roll unusable.54Views0likes6CommentsPop up alert for duplicate file
When uploading a file to a folder it no longer pops up alerting me I’m uploading a duplicate file (which sometimes do by mistake if not deleted an email etc and forgot I’ve already done it lol!)…how do you turn this on again? Don’t know why it changed or stopped as I haven’t touched any settings. Thanks in advance for any help!735Views1like5CommentsNo pop-up notification that I've added duplicates of a photo to Dropbox on iOS
Same here. On my iphone when I select several pictures and choose save to Dropbox, it would tell me if there was a duplicate. In the last day or so, it stopped giving me that warning and instead places multiple copies of the file with a (x) suffix on the filename.29Views0likes4CommentsPhoto updates to USB from DropBox
Hi, I’m an Emergency Services photographer, and I regularly provide USB’s filled with images of their station, trucks and personnel. Each time I receive a USB back to add new content, I have to manually delete the existing files from the USB to put the new Synced DropBox stuff onto it or manually select the rows of photos and Copy & Paste them onto the USB file. upload the updated versions, and then copy everything back onto the USB. It would be incredibly helpful to have a feature where I can simply select new content and press “Upload New Content to USB,” allowing the system to automatically update the drive with only the new additions. (I upload photos from my iPad onto the cloud then use the Dragging and Copy and Paste feature on laptop.) I’d love for this idea to be considered! - Ty47Views0likes1Comment
