Anonymous Downloading of Image Files using Download URL

I have been reading similar requests, but not sure if this will work from what I read.

I have a marathon race photography business and I have a customer that wants to give free photos to all their participants by bib number. Normally, I would email the small number 1-300 images as needed to these runners. However this job could be emailing anywhere from 1-10 images to 1000 to 2000 different runners (big race). As you can imagine, this can get out of hand quick.

What I want to do is use an automated email app (I will build) that will generate these download links and email each participant these links to each photo of them and then they can click on the links and the downloads will come right to them. (No login, or html page)

The Folder Structure on my end would be like below, and  that I would have to dynamically create links such as...  https://dl.dropbox/1234/racename1/roll1/image1.jpg etc...

[racename1][roll1][image.jpg1... 2... 3...]

[racename1][roll2][image.jpg1... 2... 3...]

[racename1][roll3][image.jpg1... 2... 3...]

Is this possible on Drop Box using the dl... url, and will I hit a bandwidth issue? These files are usually about 1 meg or smaller in size. If this will work, Ill upgrade to get this to work. I estimate about 6000-10000 (~10gig) downloads over 7-10days.

If anyone has done this or can advise, please let me know!

Thanks

  • Hi MyFinisherPhotos, thanks for messaging the Community!

If you're looking to have a sequential sequence of URL, like your example, this wouldn't be possible since each URL would be randomly generated.

Additionally, you could reach your daily bandwidth limit for your account, which would prevent any further sharing of content on your account.

If you need any more details, feel free to message back!
