Downloading large files from the Dropbox site fails

I am trying to download a combination of files and each time I try to download it, it shows as "stopped" no matter what I do.

I saw that this is an issue from the community with DB and I am not sure how to fix it. The file size is approximately 100GB.

I hope that someone from support can help me.

I do not believe it is on my end, like a network/internet issue as I have a business account with Comcast and my download speeds are adequate for this type of task.

I've tried to use Brave, FF, Chrome and Safari. Each time, it either shows that the download as "stopped" or I am able to download the file but it is empty, or at 0.

So what's the magic trick you need to do to download documents from DropBox?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Erin

Hi ummhumm creative studio, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Is this file located on your Dropbox account, or is it in a shared link?

This will help me to assist further!

  • This is my DB account, and I use the dropbox via the web. This is a storage area for my client's larger files; videos and whatnot, so I don't have it on my desktop or use the app. And my client would like to move these files to their DB account. I'm trying to download the files and am running into these issues.

    thanks for your help Jay!

If they want the files sent directly to their Dropbox account, and depending on your plan, you could try using Dropbox Transfer to send it directly to their Dropbox account email, and then add it to their Dropbox account directly.

  • Thanks for your response, Jay.

Although a transfer is a good idea, my client isn't very technical and will not be interested in transferring the files this way.

Is there another way to get these files directly into her account? She created a folder for me to use, but if I can't drag and drop them to her folder, then I can't get them to her.

    Thanks,
    Erin
