I can't download a shared file as I'm being told I'm out of storage

I'm trying to download a large file from Dropbox that someone shared with me, but instead of seeing a 'download' option, I get this message...

"Your account is out of storage!"

Here's the problem – I don't WANT this massive file in my Dropbox account – I just want to download it.  It *looks* like Drobox is shaking me down for money in order to access the file that's been legitimately shared with me, but I'm holding out hope that that's not the case.

Open to ideas on how to get this fixed.

Thanks.

If the file is in a shared folder or the was shared directly with you (you were directly invited to the file via your email address), then you'll need enough space within your account to hold the file or folder.

If you only need to download the file, ask the owner to send you a view-only shared link to the file instead. You'll be able to download it without impacting your own account. You don't even need an account to download it.
