Why are the videos I upload to my Dropbox account playing sound but no picture?
I have never had this problem before and it is very frustrating. I have a ton of concert videos that I took on my Iphone. They upload to dropbox. From there I copy them to my PC and create folders to...

as per advice of a friend I downloaded VLC media player for free and made it my default media player and it now works.... Good luck I hope your childrens videos are safe.

Sorry to hear about this dollyonline.
Could you please send me a screenshot of the problem at hand so I can have a visual too?
Also, does this persist on all files of this type or some? How are you uploading those files to begin with? Are you using the automatic camera uploads feature or are you importing these files to your computer by plugging your iPhone into your computer?
If you're trying to open them on a computer and you can't preview the video only, there might be some codecs missing from your media player.
Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.

some files work and some do not. I have only used the the same phone so not sure why this is happening.
I use automatic upload… it is on all the time. In this case when I saw there was a problem I deleted the audio only files from my computer and manually uploaded the videos …only to have the same thing happen again.
when that also failed I plugged my phone in to the computer and transferred…. same problem.
I use windows 7 by choice. I have spent all day updating everything possible from Microsoft and it is still of no help.

Sorry to hear that persists dollyonline - could you let me know if you can preview these files normally on our website? Do they play normally?
Also, have you tried downloading another media player or even a codec pack from the internet to see if this will resolve your concern?

Yes I can see the videos on your website but not on the computer. I have done this for years and have never had that problem. What has changed? What medis player should I try?

I'm having exactly the same issue and i use Dropbox in exactly the same way you do.
Im worried about moving the files to my external harddrive and loose the video especially as they are of my children.

Sorry to hear about this MrsKSmith1983 - how are you uploading them to begin with? Why don't you test it out with a sample file to be sure first? If the files were uploaded to Dropbox in the first place, you should be able to recover them through your delete files page or the events page.
If you need assistance with any of this, please let me know.
