I had downloaded my files on my Mac, but they're 0 bytes; they don't exist on the web either.

I unsubscribed from Dropbox in March 2024 and downloaded all my files before canceling. However, when I checked today (January 2025), I found that my downloaded files are corrupted (Zero Bytes on Mac).  Additionally, when I logged into the website, all my previous files were missing.

In this case, what are my options for recovering the files? Would resubscribing allow me to restore them?

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Hi tigercaptain! I’m sorry to hear about the situation.

When downloading your files from Dropbox last time, did you save them to your computer from www.dropbox.com or your desktop app?

If you used the desktop app, is it possible that the files were online-only at the time and you dragged them directly out of your Dropbox folder?

If that’s not the case, please feel free to check your Deleted files and Events pages online and let me know if you see something more there.

Keep me in the loop for any updates.

I don’t remember exactly how I downloaded the files, but at this moment, all of these folders have disappeared.

Could you advise me on how I can restore them?

      Thank you for your help.

Hi again, tigercaptain. If the files were deleted from the Dropbox website back then, after you downloaded them to your computer, I’m afraid there isn’t much to be done, since they'll have been deleted outside of your file recovery window

Besides your current computer, did you happen to have another one linked to your Dropbox account? If yes, your files may be still there, so that you can access them this way.
