Tracking user IP address
Good day,
I need assistance on behalf of one of our nurses regarding a deliberate sabotage by a former business partner in permanently deleting all critical health information. I have been able to recover somewhat of the actual files but I need assistance in tracking down the MAC address of the computer that logged in and deleted the information intentionally. The only issue is that the account associated is a free account. I know the account should have been paid but new businesses look to cheap options of cloud hosting.
Anyway, how do I go about tracking down the MAC or IP address of the user that logged in and maliciously deleted the files.
I need the information to support the bigger legal case at play.
Any assistance will be valued.
Unfortunately I doubt you'll be able to see it as Dropbox doesnt track and host such things or share it. The only person who will see an IP address is the account owner themselves at www.dropbox.com/account and if it was in a paid team. Note as well that Dropbox does not store or access the MAC address of accounts so you wont get that at all.
ALL of the information you'll be able to see is at www.dropbox.com/events and thats all you'll be able to access I'm afraid.
You could try and get your legal teams to contact Dropbox via legal@dropbox.com or dispute-notice@dropbox.com but that may be long winded.
