Why is Dropbox making conflicted copies in my game files?

So there’s this weird glitch and I’ve searched the internet for answers without luck, the other day my laptop had to install and update a few things, including the EA app, I left it running when I came back it was still restarting.

all seemed fine but Dropbox has created conflicted copies of all kinds of files and documents in my EA game files. I’ve tidied what I can up but don’t know which copy is safe to delete and which is the current copy of my game and mods. It also means I can’t edit my mods.
why did Dropbox do this and what can I do to fix it?

I’ve have restarted laptop and repaired the game and have the same thing showing. Dropbox has also made two conflicted copies of the Curseforge app. No idea which is ok to use. Please any advice?

The article I previously linked states that the last saved versions of the file will always appear as the conflicted copy.

As to whether or not you need the original file or the newer conflicted copy file, that would be up to you to determine which is required for your needs.

Hi Laterjayter97, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

In general, this could occur in these situations for files in the Dropbox folder.

As this is related to files and mods in games, given that both mods and games update their own files when needed, it's possible the two conflicted and created this issue.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

This isn’t an error in one game, Dropbox created two copies of the Curseforge app, that aop isn’t part of the game files, and not owned by EA. Dropbox also created copies of files in a games file documents.
point is I’m not sure which copy is the up to date versions. Surely Dropbox can advise how to find which is the newest version as it’s Dropbox conflicted copies? The copies are called ‘LATOP-D1CIIP93’s conflicted copy 2025-01-26’ as well as the original title (for example Curseforge)
