Just to rule that out, you are certain that the invitation and the secondary email are spelled correctly without any mistakes, right?
Also, have you verified the secondary email as well?

I confirmed that the spelling is correct, and the secondary email has been verified.
I tried to create a new account with the secondary email (I know, that's probably bad!), and Dropbox said there was already an associated account. I tried to reset the password, but I never got a reset link emailed to either account. I can still log in normally with the primary account.
