Not exactly. Dropbox is transitioning to an updated shared link architecture. The former are the old links that are still generated for some files, and the latter is the new link.

You cannot force one or the other. PLUS I'd say as Dropbox is not a hosting tool and links and formats do change (and thus old ones force stopped working) you really need to go and find a proper hosting platform and not use Dropbox - especially given the bandwidth limitations here which if you hit would stop everything working.

Thanks, Mark - but it really isn't using Dropbox as a hosting tools, more as a "bus stop": The plan has been to add up to 50 images at a time, import them into our system via the share links - and them delete those files again before running a new batch maybe a week later.
SO...
what you say is that if the share links get that extra complexity or not is totally random?
It looks weird, since I've tried with the same set of about ten files several times, and it is just one file that gets that bonus...
