Hi wb7c, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I have the same phone, and it is possible to upload from another location. Instead of choosing the 'Upload photos and videos' option, choose 'Create or upload file' > 'Upload files', and then you can choose the SD card and the location.
You can't upload an entire folder, but you can upload the photos manually, or select all using the Android interface.
If you need any further assistance, please let me know!

Thank you, Jay. That worked. I went through the process with two files, watching on the computer to see the result in action. I could also scan a label and send it up using the Dropbox app's scan feature.
I do have the free version of Dropsync on my phone. I created a "Dropsync" folder on my SD card and one in Dropbox. I use my file manager to move (cut) or copy files or a folder of files and paste them into Dropsync. Run the app to "sync now," and the content is transferred. I can pull the contents out of the folder on Dropbox and place it where I want it. Likewise, place files or folders in Dropsync on Dropbox and run the phone app to transfer to the phone. Move it from the SD card's Dropsync folder to wherever I want it.
I can set a schedule to sync automatically, but I don't transfer that much stuff in or out to warrant the scheduled sync.
I will practice using your advice to become familiar with the procedure on the Dropbox app.
Thank you. I will copy your advice and save it in my Dropbox!
