How to send video files, to people with Basic account, without affecting their storage?

Please tell me how to send 90 video files to an exec who may only have the basic free version of DB without blowing up their storage? All I need them to do is be able to see all the video files and download them. They don't want a professional DB account. They don't like DB. All they want are the files. I tested this out and every time someone complains their storage is full and can't handle it. No, I cannot break up the amount. Has to be all the files at once.

Is there another solution that offers a more easier way to transfer these files? What good is a pro account if you have to send to other pro accounts. That's just silly.

  • Hi NotABox,

I am a Dropbox Product Manager for our sharing features.  Dropbox allows you to create shared links to files and folders that can be previewed by anyone without requiring available storage or even an account.

If all 90 video files are in a single folder, create a "Link for Viewing" to that folder.  Ensure that permissions are set to "Anyone with Link".  Your executive should then be able to access the folder as a web preview.  They'll be able to play the videos contained within the folder.  They can also choose the Join the Folder, Add a Copy to their Dropbox, or Download the folder contents to their local machine.

If you need to add additional security, since you mentioned having a Pro account, you can also add a password to your link.

Additionally, one way you can test what your recipients will see is to visit the link you've created in an incognito or private browsing window.  That will simulate the experience of a recipient who has not logged in with their account.

    Hope that helps.
