Moving shared folder to a private folder without causing problem for others

Dear Community,

I have a lot of folders shared from other people and they have been saved in the Dropbox folder on my computer. Now I want to create a new private folder called 'shared' and move all the shared folders inside, so that it would be easier for me to find my own folders without looking through all the shared folders list. But I wonder if this will change where these folders are saved on the collaborators' computer or even make them disappear on their computer, causing big trouble for them. Thank you so much for answering!!

Yes, you can do this. You can move and even rename any shared folder within your account and it won't affect any other collaborator. I do this exact thing. I have a folder called Shared and I move all shared folders into it.

To add to what Rich says, I do exactly the same thing, however, just a word of warning when doing it Dropbox will show you leaving/deleting and adding shared folders etc. Dont panic and just let it do it and all will work out :)
