New Computer Sync issue Mac: Seeing offline folders in Finder

I'm starting with a new Mac but a long-time Dropbox and Mac user. In the past when I do this, I've been able to see all of my folders/file in my Dropbox folder on my computer, even though they are on...

    If you first choose online-only as the default option in the Dropbox desktop application preferences, then when you check the folders from the selective sync window, they'll appear as online-only folders.

     

    Otherwise, once the folders appear on your machine, you can right click the folder and immediately mark it as online-only by right clicking it from Finder.
