Stuck "importing photos..."
My dropbox is set to auto import/upload my iphone photos, which it is doing. But it keeps telling me it's "importing photos..." and the menubar symbol is constantly the camera symbol that usually comes up when its importing. It's like its stuck.
Any help?
System: Macbook Pro, OSX El Capitan.

I banged my head on this long enough to give up. Dropbox is going to have to fix this issue in an update to the product. My solution to not go nuts, was to install the Dropbox app on my phone and shut off sync on my computer and have my phone push the pictures up.

Finally got my issue resolved. Pleas share.
I just upgraded to Dropbox 3.12.6 today, having previously been on 3.12.5, Yosemite OSX, newest Macbook Pro. My photo syncing issue started around the time of the upgrade to Yosemite in December.
I have my own Teams account, since I use a lot of space and have a group that I run. So, I won't be leaving my own Teams account. Scratch that idea.
Every time I plug in my phone to my laptop with USB, both Photos and Dropboxs Camera Upload auto-start. My Photos import would complete, and I'd watch the Dropbox Import Progress as it stalled every time on different images from week-to-week, never once completing.
Curiously, at the same time I was encountering this Dropbox Camera Upload syncing stuck issue, my Apple Photos App kept reporting two photos that I had saved from a text message as not having been imported (despite importing them many times). The photos in question were from my sister, but perhaps were corrupted in some way? I fixed that Photos error with Photos by deleting the two photos from my phone. A third popped up as not being imported (from the same text messages), so I deleted those too. After several times plugging and unplugging my phone, ignoring Dropbox still stalling, I verified that the Photos app was no longer showing non-synced photos.
Next, I unplugged my phone, quit Dropbox, restarted Dropbox plugged in my phone a number of times. I didn't do any special terminal commands or uninstalls, or complete re-indexing of my Dropbox Account (too long at >1TB).
I was disappointed that the first time the Dropbox Camera Upload still stalled, but it looked like it was making progress. Also, when I quit and restarted dropbox, I saw more photos had synced even after the Import Progress window had indicated it had stalled. So, I repeated the process several times, and it appeared to make more and more progress on imports. The import progress would hang another 2-3 times, but finally it finished after that.
Now everything appears back to normal. So, my suggestion - look for a photo that isn't importing in Photos, and delete it until Photos indicates all is well. Then repeat and restart Dropbox and Camera syncing.

John G. - Could be identical symptoms but different root cause.
Glad to hear my solution helped at least one person out.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. There are definitely different root causes. I would love to see Dropbox chime in and give us some ideas.

I'm having the same issue. It's stuck on "Importing photos" and I don't even have a device connected. I find that if I quit the Dropbox app and reopen it the message will go away for a period of time, then it comes back as soon as I connect my phone.
My specs:
- I'm running the latest 3.14.7 of Dropbox for Mac
- I'm running Mac OS X 10.11.4 Beta (15E33e)
- I've got both a personal paid Dropbox account as well as a Dropbox for Business connected

@Daniel J. We have all given up on Dropbox interaction and have gone the same route by updating through wifi.

After trying many different possible solutions unsuccessfully (restarts, unlink and relink, complete reinstall, etc.) my problem (and solution) turned out to be similar to Paul P.'s, above.
When I looked at my list of files in the Camera Uploads folder, I realized that a chunk of three days of photos were missing. Everything up to that day was fine, and several days after that were okay before importing halted and began to hang a few days ago.
Unlike Paul, all of my photos had imported into the OS X Photos app, even though they didn't upload to Camera Uploads — so I knew I had a backup, but I couldn't easily identify which one might be corrupt.
What I did was select and delete on my iPhone all the photos that had not loaded to Camera Uploads. There were 68 in all, including a 22 photo accidental "burst" photo. I then went into Trash on my iPhone and restored 4 of them, unplugged my iPhone and plugged it back in, and ... the progress bar on "Importing photos" did advance, and the 4 photos uploaded to Dropbox! (It took more than a minute.) repeated this, gradually increasing the number to 8 and then 12, unplugging the iPhone and replugging it in each time, and each time they uploaded, quicker than the first time. I did the "burst" last, and it too uploaded. Things seem fine now.
I hope others with this problem find this useful as well. (And Dropbox, in trying to come up with a way to prevent this from happening.)

Dropbox still stuck during importing photos and videos from iPhone.
El Capitan 10.11.5
Dropbox 4.4.29
Reinstalling OS X and Dropbox app doesn't help.
After first launching it import 430 photos and then stuck.
After relaunching Dropbox app it import next 101 photos and then stuck again.
After relaunching Dropbox app again it import next 456 photos and then stuck again.
After relaunching again, again and again it always stuck at the beginning (0 photos imported).
But I still have over 2000 photos in addition to already imported photos.

Can I join the queue? Running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5, DB 5.4.24 and importing via iPhone 6S. DB 'import' icon constantly there and view import progress just stuck. Been like this for several months despite trying all the above. Not very upbeat on anything getting sorted anytime soon...

Same here, still down.
I'm really close to using iCloud for photos again... I REALLY don't want to do that.
First Carousel is killed off, which did a great job managing space on the iPhone for photos. Now, I have to open up the iOS dropbox app to get photos off the device... kinda annoying. Even with iOS dropbox background uploading enabled.
On my wife's phone is more annoying b/c she doesn't have as much local storage on the phone as I do.
