Two people icon on a folder that is not shared
Hi everyone,
I need some help clarifying an issue with a folder on my Dropbox account. Here’s the situation:
I have a root folder that I haven’t shared with anyone, and when I check the sharing and access settings, it confirms that I’m the only person with access. Specifically:
- Under “Manage Access” and “Share,” it says, “Only me.”
- There are no shared links created for the folder.
- The folder settings are configured so that only I, as the owner, can add members or change link settings.
However, the folder icon still shows the two silhouettes of people (the shared folder icon), even though I’ve removed all access. The subfolders within this root folder are shared and appropriately display the shared folder icon, but the root folder shouldn’t be shared with anyone.
I’m wondering if this is:
- A glitch with the folder icon, or
- A setting I might have overlooked that’s causing it to show as shared.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something specific I should check to ensure the root folder isn’t unintentionally shared?
Thanks in advance for your help!

The folder is still shared, with you as the only member. You need to unshare the folder.

I created the folder, but it doesn’t give me the option to unshare it. I’ve followed the link and steps in the article you provided, but the options aren’t available.
