Dropbox Vault Being Discontinued !!
Do you know what you are you doing ?????
Hey guys!
Thanks for showing your interest in Dropbox Vault.
To concentrate our efforts on further improving our existing security features and building new capabilities around advanced data protection, we’ve made the decision to discontinue Dropbox Vault.
From March 4th Dropbox Vault will no longer be available. If you’re currently using your Vault, that folder will automatically turn into a standard Dropbox folder, that doesn’t require a PIN to access. The files in your folder will remain the same.
I hope this clarifies!

This is definitely a horrible decision. Just started using Vault for confidential files i dont want anyone accidentally stumbling upon if they borrow my phone. I may have to take my business elsewhere.

Does anyone yet know why they are taking this terrible decision?

Not sure who is running the show over there, but what a horrible decision someone is made. I’ll be canceling my subscription as soon as I move my files back to my encrypted hard drive and sign up with a company that’s not going to forgo giving its users and explanation of what exactly it’s doing and why.

Vault is essential for using Dropbox with both private personal files and professional work files. I will look for an alternative to Dropbox now. Removing Vault seems to me to be a crazy decision. It was fine that Vault was accessible only through the website, whereas the folders outside of Vault were integrated into the file systems of my Mac and Windows machines. Without Vault, personal files turn up on Mac Spotlight or may be inadvertently opened during work or screen sharing with colleagues. This is unacceptable.

I am not a new member. I have used Dropbox for many years. I guess the characterization is just a bug and Dropbox’s forum system.

Guessing its a cost cutting exercise as Vault is an add on to their Plus and Pro packages. Its a shame as there are other Dropbox apps that needed to be culled first before Vault.
You would of thought they could of at least posted an explanation? As I mentioned in another thread, Dropbox's record when it comes to data breaches hasn't been good so the extra layer of Vault security was a bonus.
With this Vault security layer now discontinued I will also be fully migrating over to another solution, probably OneDrive.
The trust in Dropbox's management has been taking hits with their dubious decisions lately, this is the final straw!Edited to say ..... Found a Dropbox Support answer below from another forum...
Reads to me that they possibly have found security issues with their software and pulled it before Vault was compromised ...."We discontinue Dropbox Vault primarily due to significant technical risks that could compromise the security we provide to our users. We want to concentrate our efforts on further enhancing our existing security features."

Thank you for replying, but this DOESN'T clarify the reason. You've just told us what we already knew.
Dropbox Vault already exists, and has many users who value it. Scrapping it will require you to do plenty of work to move all the files as well as this communication effort, and will also lose you customers.
Why not simply keep Vault as it is while also improving and building other security features?
