Is it no longer possible to pick my existing Dropbox folder when installing the app?

In the past I was able to install  dropbox and with the advance settings I  was able to use and  existing  dropbox   directory - -- has that changed?   do I have to have dropbox download   thousands of files that already exist on the computer?

No, that hasn't changed, but Dropbox will still need to index all of your files and that will take time, especially if you have a lot of data, and it will appear to be uploading and downloading during that process, but it will only be sending comparison data and any changes that it finds.

have a large  Dropbox folder --- over  80,000 files  so I copied it from  my old computer to the  new --- since it is large, I have it on a  second internal   drive  and in this case it at

      E:\dropbos

I was using the offline installer and when  noted that it should allocate the Dropbox folder at  E:   it came back and told me the E:\dropbox existed and  I could pick a new location or have the installer rename --- it did and now is it "e:\Dropbox (old)" and then it  created a new e:\dropbox folder ---

and to top all off, it did not let me decide and allocated my entire  db folder in the cloud --- I had to   use the file explorer to set the option to  set   "offline access"
