sync
472 TopicsLow space on internal drive, and added an external one. But now content is added to both of them.
I have run low on space on my internal drive and added an external drive for my Dropbox. I have gone through the process of connecting and syncing my Dropbox account to my new external Dropbox drive. However, it appears that any files I add or remove from my new Dropbox external drive are also being added and removed from my Dropbox folder on my internal system drive. When I look at Dropbox Preferences, I see that the location is set to sync only with my external Dropbox drive. I have restarted my computer and the problem persists. Any suggestions?19Views0likes1CommentI migrated my Dropbox files from the old MacBook to the new and they got duplicated.
Hi, I just migrated all of my documents from my old Macbook Air to my New Macbook Air. - This included my DropBox files that were on my old Macbook Air, that are syncing with my Dropbox Account in the cloud. On my new Macbook Air, it is now asking me if: I would like to start syncing the Dropbox App. - If I say Yes, will I get duplicated files on my new MacBook Air (as I already have the files on my new MacBook Air? So appreciate any guidance/help that you can give. Thanks, MarionSolved31Views0likes3Comments"Make available offline" option is not working on folder level on Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1
Hi, On macOS Sequoia 15.1.1, the following menu on folder : "make available offline" (my translation from french) is not working. I would have to select it on each file to get it available offline. Do you experience the same issue ?32Views0likes5Comments"My files on Dropbox" folder has all my documents in it?
I had a brief issue with synchronization, logged out and back into Dropbox per support and suddenly now, my Documents folder is nearly empty except for default folders for my applications and a folder called "my files on dropbox." Inside that directory is... all the stuff that should be in My Documents. How do I fix this?? What even happened?30Views0likes2CommentsFiles not available offline, even though I've selected the option in my app's preferences.
I'm on Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 I have set the preference in Sync to make all files available offline but when I go into Camera Uploads in my Dropbox folder I need to right click and choose "Make Available Offline" to download the files from the cloud. I have restarted Dropbox on the Mac. Any ideas why I can't get files to download?Solved502Views1like8CommentsThe Dropbox app is stuck on "starting" on my Linux device running Ubuntu 18.04.
Good evening, On one of my computers, a Linux computer (Zorin OS 17 Pro based on Ubuntu 18.04), the Dropbox application is stuck on “Start” and therefore no longer synchronizes my dropbox. Thanks in advance, Sincerely, Hervé38Views0likes3CommentsCan't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.42Views0likes1CommentFile Provider is on one of my Macs, but not the other, causing issues
I was prompted to update my Dropbox folder settings some time ago to the ~/Library/CloudStorage path to properly function with the Apple API settings. This worked fine. However, I have recently begun using a new Mac Mini and Dropbox on that computer remains installed in the Users directory. In the Dropbox settings, I am told: "You are not eligible for the new Dropbox for macOS on File Provider at this time. Your Dropbox folder contains some file types that are not supported." This creates an obvious problem, because I have a Dropbox with two different directories (one that goes through /CloudStorage and one that goes through /Users), creating a lot of problems when I try to load files across computers. I am running the same OS on both computers. But more problematically, I am unsure how my Dropbox folder could contain file types that are not supported by the new Dropbox one on computer but not on the other. Has anybody been through something like this?47Views0likes9CommentsIs it no longer possible to pick my existing Dropbox folder when installing the app?
In the past I was able to install dropbox and with the advance settings I was able to use and existing dropbox directory - -- has that changed? do I have to have dropbox download thousands of files that already exist on the computer?26Views0likes2Comments
