Solved

local apps files are unaccessbile

Hi all ,

Is there anyone who experienced this similar issue?

I could open my files on dropbox.com and open them on my iPad but cannot open them on my laptop local app. The error message says "the file cannot be accessed by the system".

May I be bold enough to ask how to check my app is running and my logging status?

If the Dropbox application is running you'll see a small Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac), near the time. On Windows it looks like this (mine happens to show that Dropbox is syncing):

I do double click my local app every time which I thought means I run the local app.

If you're clicking a Dropbox icon on your Desktop or taskbar, that's not the same icon. Yes, it should launch the app if it's not already running, but that doesn't open the Dropbox menu, and if the app is running, clicking that icon just opens your Dropbox folder. Make sure you see the icon shown above. If it's there, you can hover your cursor over it to check its status.

Right-click the file and select Make available offline, then try again.

Hi Rich, thanks! But when I right-clicked, I couldn’t see any options provided by Dropbox. There is no such one called “make available offline”. Is that because I unconsciously logged off on my local app?

If you don't see any Dropbox options on the menu, that they usually means that the Dropbox application is not running. Make sure you have Dropbox running and you're signed in to your account.
