Online only files: Download to an external or bulk select "make online only"

I have dropbox online only files visible / synced on my computer. I know that when I click the file - it downloads to my hard drive. It seems like the only way to make it go back to online only is to manually click that file and select it to go back to online only- this is unmanageable to do for each individual file. I am concerned with harddrive space so I am looking for options to reduce this.

I can think of two ways and I am uncertain if this is possible - has anyone done either of these?

1 -  Is there a way to view all of the files that have been downloaded and then select all to be online only again in a bulk way? Ive got thousands of files within subfolders and its unmanageable to go folder by folder to find the ones that have been downloaded.

2 - When i click on a file - instead of it downloading to my harddrive - could it download to an external harddrive ? I want to be able to connect/disconnect the external when I am working so unsure how this would work with resyncing etc.

Hi there okbeef - thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

When it comes to your first concern, I'm afraid there's no way to see all of your online-only files in one place. You can take a look at your Dropbox folder and check their syncing icons though and adjust your sync settings through the app's preferences, if needed.

As for your second query, it's not possible at the moment as the files will download to the hard drive that you have located your Dropbox folder on your computer.
