The Dropbox desktop app is slow on Windows
Hello, the Dropbox desktop app is slow and glitchy. This is in Windows explorer. It wasn't like this previously. I am not moving large files or anything like that.
I have seen other discussions regarding this but no clear solution.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks-

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Joseph P-9.
When you say slow, do you mean that syncing is slow? Can you also clarify what you mean by glitchy?
Which version of the app are you currently using? You can see that by hovering over your Dropbox icon.
Let me know and we'll go from there.

Hello Hannah,
When undertaking simple tasks like browsing folders and files and copying and pasting SMALL files, just "general use" of Windows explorer with the Dropbox...it is much slower than other non-Dropbox explorer drives.
Nothing to do with syncing as far as I am aware.
Others have had similar feedback and I dont know why Dropbox dont have a solution.
Thanks for your help.

I am "up to date" but how the hell anyone can confirm that is a mystery to me!
The problem has been happening for more than a year.
Doesn't happen in MacOS...same Dropbox account...go figure!

Hello Hannah,
Good point.
Closing the app appears to fix the problem. Where to from here?
Also, do you know why the official Dropbox support havn't got back to me? I have been paying for this service for more than ten years...you'd think they'd return an email...

Hello,
Ticket #24646115: DB: Dropbox desktop is glitchy and slow
It's got nothing to do with "syncing" folks. Dropbox Desktop is a Dropbox integration with Windows Explorer. This integration is slow and glitchy. This means that when you use your keyboard and click on something or type something or copy something, it takes several seconds for the Dropbox in Windows Explorer to respond, this increases errors. This is kind of what computing was like close to twenty years ago.

Other users have reported this problem, so I really would appreciate it if people could quit it with the "thanks for bringing this to our attention" type comments.

Thanks for the ticket ID Joseph P-9 - I was able to find it in our system and passed your comments on.
I can see that a member of the team has replied there, so I'd recommend replying to them directly as they're better equipped to help further with account and device specific information.
