flashfletch, out of curiosity, is the mobile phone in question a work device? I’m wondering if there could be some sort of restriction set that doesn’t allow you to install the Dropbox app there.

No, Nancy. It's a case of a 'cheap' Chinese product that ends up not being cheap 'coz it does not measure up to expectations ☹️
I will have to look at other ways to get access to data over different platforms ...
