Dropbox told me to request a refund from Google Play after being charged for a trial.

Hi,

Hope you are well. I had signed up to a trial plan and Dropbox charged me without any intimation. I cancelled the plan and have requested for a refund but with on response. I've been trying since over a month now to reach out to Dropbox and am finally trying this help forum. When I first reported this, Dropbox asked me to go to Google Playstore to request refund, when I did so, Google Playstore said I need to contact my bank and my bank has now asked me to go to the retailer i.e. Dropbox. This is very difficult and frustrating.

Please can someone help resolve?

Thanks,

Thanks Rich. I'll chase Google again in that case. I would have hoped Dropbox could do more to notify users about the trial coming to an end, instead of charging us directly though.

Before starting a trial, Dropbox tells you that if the trial isn't cancelled, it will convert to a full subscription automatically at the end of the trial. This is how nearly all trials for subscription services work.

Did you start the trial through the Google Play store? If so, then it's Google that you need to talk to. Dropbox won't have any billing or payment information for your account as it was Google that handled the transaction. Dropbox can't provide a refund if they weren't the ones that processed the original payment.

Also to add, the billing history in my account also shows no bills so not sure why DropBox has still charged me.

I'm not 100% certain, but there may be no billing history since the billing would be handled by Google. Check your Plan page. What plan does it say you're on?
