Unknown credit card charge on basic free account
I received a charge on our credit card for $81 and all it says on the description is "DropBoxIncCodCordspro San Francisco CA". I have a free basic account. I would like to know where this is coming from and why we were charged when I have a basic account.
- Thanks for the update and I hope you had a great weekend!
Can I reach out to you via email on the address you have here on the Community, so we can look at this more closely?
Let me know!
- HannahDropbox StaffHey Danabccrrfoxvalley, welcome aboard our Community!
If you were charged for a Dropbox subscription, while having a free Basic account, it usually means that you are paying for a different account.
You can try our lookup tool, to search for the payment and see which account it's for.
Let me know if you have more questions!- DanabccrrfoxvalleyExplorer | Level 4
There is no transaction ID to look up, so I'm not sure where to go from here. I believe this is a fraudulent charge.

I was charged $11.99 on my credit card for the dropbox free account. What was the charge for?
- MarkSuper User IIYou'll need to contact Dropbox Support directly. Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.Dropbox cannot charge you if they don't have your billing information. If you've been charged and didn't give them your billing information, then someone else has and you should be contacting your bank.

Hello! Can you explain what "DropBoxIncCodCordspro San Francisco CA" means? I received the same transaction description. The fact is that I did make several transactions, but I don't remember the amount that was accompanied by this cipher. I'm currently in the process of improving my credit through www.greedyrates.ca. And I need to know the exact information about all my expenses. I'm sure I didn't make this payment myself, so I want my money back as soon as possible.

Hi Metalltant, thank you for posting.
Can you see a transaction ID on that charge, after DROPBOX*?
If you can, you should be able to look for it using our lookup tool.
I hope that helps!

How can I contact someone actually at Dropbox? I'm getting charged 11.99/mth, yet I have a basic plan according to my settings. So I can't cancel. So frustrating. I don't use, don't want it, and don't care about what's in there. I just want to cancel and stop paying $11.99/mth! Thanks

Hey kb-23, thanks for reaching out to us and sorry to see you're having trouble with this.
Is this a credit card charge or an iTunes/Google Play one?
If it's a credit card charge, you should be able to look it up and locate the account in question, in order to cancel the subscription.
Let me know how it goes and if you have any issues, we can always help you on our end.
Thanks.

I have the correct account. When I click on settings, it doesn't give me "Plan" as an option and it just says basic. And nothing to click on. Thank you!

I'm being charged €19.99 a month for Dropbox even though I only have a Basic Account, and I can't get help!
My transaction id is TEN digits long, not twelve, so that prompt does not help me. I can't get anywhere because I'm stuck talking to bots and going in circles. Please can somebody help me?
I have two Dropbox accounts that I'm aware of. Both are Basic. I would be happy to completely delete them.I cannot contact support directly because I'm on a Basic plan.
Thank you for your help,Nick.

Anyone else have this problem. I see on my statement that Dropbox just automatically charges me a full year subscription twice in a row when I am running on less than 2 GB with the FREE subscription status. Then funny enough one of the charges was refunded. What about the other one Dropbox?? Are we just paying for FREE accounts without our knowledge here. Think maybe this company is trying to pull a fast one and pull in some quick money so they can cook the books.
DROPBOX - PLEASE REFUND MY ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY! and next time ask me before charging my card for nothing.

Hey Dissatisfied95, sorry to see you're having trouble.
It sounds like you might be getting charged for a different account.
Is it a credit card charge? If so, you can find out the email of the account using this page.
Is it an account you can access and cancel?
