What happens to my files if I don't renew my plan?

I'm curious what happens to my files if I choose not to renew my subscription, or fall on hard times and am not able to renew?

For example, say I purchase the 3TB plan. I spend the time to upload 2TBs worth of files and then in a year, I have more pressing responsibilities that require those funds, causing my account to revert back to the Basic 2GB version. What happens to the other 1.98TB of files? Are they still available if I choose to subscribe again in the future? Do they just get deleted? If they are available, how long are they available for?

I didn't really find a good answer to this in the other discussion threads. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @martymartyr1, thanks for messaging the Community.

If you downgrade from a paid plan to a Basic plan, and your account is over quota by a large amount, you may be subject to data deletion.

This article contains more information regarding this matter, and you would receive emails about this well in advance.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

    Hi martymartyr1,

You are asking what's going on when you get in over quota in fact. In such a case you ability to sync your files and to update them will be disabled. The only way to touch your files will be to download them using your web browser and, if you want, to delete some of them (again using web browser only). All your files will stay there until you delete them or delete your account (either intentionally or as result of inactivity). All free account are automatically removed (together with all their content) if no any activity registers for past year back till any moment. Once such a moment comes up..., say goodbye to your files. In other words, just keep accessing your account regularly using your web browser to prevent deletion even if you don't need to do anything. Once you renew your subscription all features will get back.

    Hope this clarifies matter.
