Unknown "Dropbox Transfer" pop-up notification

Out of the blue, we got a popup notice "Dropbox Transfer". and "Your Transfer 555 MB out of 100 MB"

Below that, it lists two messages:

1- This transfer is over the size limit. Send up to 100 GB with the Professional plan.

2- Can't add empty files. Under this heading, it lists two files under \Desktop\Security & Utilities\Lost & Found\OICE_....

I have no idea where this came from. We are not aware of how these "transfers" got initiated. I can still view the contents of my Dropbox via the File Manager, but the app will not open. I logged into my Dropbox account online. I don't see any large transfers, and we are well under the 2.25GB limit.

What the heck??

  • Hey pamikkelsen, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.

This sounds like you or someone using your computer, tried to create a Dropbox Transfer.

Dropbox Transfer is a way of sharing files with others and it has a 100 MB size limit for Basic free accounts, meaning, you can send up to 100 MB of files.

From the "Your Transfer 555 MB out of 100 MB" message, I understand that whoever did this, tried to add more files to the Transfer, than the size limit allows, so the Transfer wasn't even created.

I think you're good to ignore this, but if you want to check your Transfers, you can take a look at this page

I hope this helps, but let me know if you have other questions!

Thank you! There are only two of us here. I know I didn't create a transfer and if my husband did, it was by accident. I checked the link you provided and there are no transfers there.

      Thank again...

        Not a problem, Pam!

If you need anything else, let me know.

        Have a great week ahead!
