We've changed emails at work back in May and I no longer have access to my old email address, only the new one. I've just received a bill from dropbox for a plus subscription - I want to access my dropbox plus account to get the receipt but when I try, the login page sends a code to my old work email.

Do you happen to have any devices that are still linked to that Dropbox account? If you do, please check their Notifications section; the one-time code should be there, and you can use it to log in to your account again, and update your email address.
If that’s not possible, and you can’t temporarily reactivate your old email address either, I’d suggest following these steps to log a ticket with our support team instead; they’ll further help.
Don’t forget to send me your ticket number here after that.
